Title: Quite impressed
Post by: Spam95 on 10 February 2007, 17:26:32
Hi everyone
I've just bought my forst Omega. I need a huge estate as I cart around gear for a small duo I'm in. I bought it off Ebay. A truly frightening experience. What happened was I made a BEST OFFER bid of a ridiculously amount and the bloody thing came up. I was more surprised than the seller. It turns out to be a 38000 m Y Reg green 2,6 manual estate that was an ex motability car. The HPI was fine and generally the car is is lovely condition. I have already learnt from your site to have the timing belt change and a full service.
I have a few problems
Firstly the windscreen keeps misting up. At first I horrific thoughts of head gaskets or holes in the heater matrix etc, but now I've read your section on FAQs about draining the scuttle thingy I'll have a go at that first, Can someone tell me if I'm on the right track?
Secondly, I was fooled into thinking that the car had cruise control, because of all the buttons on the steering wheel. But I have heard you can retro fit them. I'm a bit of a ar%^ with electrical things and I'd like to know if there is anyone near Manchester that can do them?
Thirdly, is there any way you can turn off the trip computer. I find it a PITA
Thats all for now.
Good site everyone
Chris

2.6 Manual estate nice!!! Manuals are not common!

Cruise can easily be fitted, you need may need a clutch and brake switch which sit above the pedals. However mine already had these! You also need a cruise stalk (replaces your indicator stalk with 3 extra buttons on the end), and get it enabled by tech2.

Thats it job done, nothing else needed!

Post in general help for more info  :y

Hi Chris and welcome aboard :y The Omega estate is ideal for carrying band/disco equipment - one of the reasons I bought mine as me and my son run mobile disco. I've been doing them for over 30 years now (yes, I know it's about time I retired from it!!) and it's the only estate car I've had thats been big enough for all of the equipment :y :)

Hi Chris and welcome. Fitting Cruise is easy (honest) but you need Vx dealer to update your software when you have the parts in place.  Good luck  :y
