I have a 1996,omega turbodiesel2.5,with  :-[BMW engine ,runs well but sadly lacks top end performance /acceleration.Up to now I have had it serviced(all supposedly ok),replaced the Cat,converter (new),replaced turbo ,second hand but assured working perfectly.I am at a loss as what to do next.Really love the car 20,000 original miles on it ,Iam trying to sort out the mechanics/performance out before I start on the cosmetics/paint etc,I really would appreciate any ideas. Thanks   John.

Howdoo, and welcome to the forum!!

If the car is genuinely that age and miles, then it possibly needs a good Italian tune-up....

Change the oil and filters, put a dose of injector cleaner into a quarter tank of fuel and let an apprentice or young friend take it for a 30 mile or so drive without you being there......  Should clear the tubes and injectors out like a good 'un then see if its any better.

If not, there are tuning options available.  Omegatoy, a user here, has a 'warm' diesel that is regularly played with....   ;)

Quite amazed at the response from so many members, thanks again, well picked the old girl this morning from the local garage, they cannot sort out the lack of top end power. As I have said, turbo,Cat, full service ,red ex dieseil injector cleaner, the lot what now.I was told today to get shut but I really do enjoy the car.Does any body out there think that I may be expecting too much performance wise as the car is a 1996 model?Anyway  I am looking forward to reading many more replies, hopefully. Thanks again   John. :

Hi John and welcome.  I hope you get it sorted as a car with that mileage is worth keeping.  Maybe an ecu change for a range rover one?

Welcome to the site :)

Tech Qs best asked under Omega Help section.

However, the 2.5TD tractor engine is heavily detuned in Omega (something like 130Bhp in a 1.7 tonne car).  There are options to improve this to more respectable figures....
