Hi, found you in the VX performance magazine so I thought I would introduce myself and my MV6. Roxy as she is called is an Oct 97 3.0 in silver and there's not another one around where I live as far as I can tell. I think she might be an early one as well, and perhaps a future classic vauxhall if I can keep her going. Most I've seen seem to be either ex Police white ones or are on ebay being dismantled for parts.
On the subject of work, I paid £1800 in dec 06 for full brake replacements, new tyres, water pump, cambelt, service and suspension bushes. This month it's been a new back exhaust box and a leaking 3 way valve which was losing water at the back of the engine. I also apparently have an oil leak on the offside V of the block which will eventually fill up the spark plugs etc. Garage have quoted £350 or so (gulp!).
She still needs a new element for the drivers heated seat, and the the electronic fan symbol on the climate control has disappeared, there's now only an orange square under the 'auto' button. The tin worm has crept in to the rear offside door but apart from all that she is a great car.
One thing in particular which someone might know about is the replacement ECU's which are on ebay. Do they up the power to 230BHP just by plugging it in which sounds easy, or is there more to it than that? Is it safe? Lastly, if anyone knows the history of MV6's and might be able to confirm if mine is an early one and therefore worth maintaining then I would really like to know.
That's it for now, I'd attach a picture, but clicking on 'add a picture' in the tags list just seems to do nothing. Maybe a computer expert might put me right.
Thanks for reading,
Will G. (Billy the bass 'cause I play bass).

Hello and Welcome to the site :y

Hi & Welcome :)

Howdoo and welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have had your hands full with your car and work done previously. Thats where this forum could help you out, even if only spanner moderate and not an expert....
Some good how to's posted here to allow you to do basic and not so basic jobs and save loads of dosh rather than pay garage prices. Some of the peeps also do house calls!
As for posting pics, you need to use something like photobucket to host them and then place the link in the post on here. Server restrictions prevent actual posting on the forum.
Take a bit time to browse, if you have not already. Search out the FAQ's, most questions or queries can be sorted here. Also, thers the search option but this is a little cumbersome.....
Enjoy your stay and feel free to join in....

Hi & welcome :)where in warwickshire are you.

Welcome to the site :)
A silver MV6... ...excellent choice, bet it looks a bit like the one in my picture to the left of this post ;)
1997? Retail MV6 wasn't released until MY98, so must be on an R plate (MY98 starts autumn 97)

yes you are correct, as I thought you probably might be! It was made in Oct 97, which I glean from a sticker that is on the inside of the boot mounted CD autochanger cover. It was sold on 1st Jan 98.
There was some kind of delay you see, the original sale date was Nov 97 but that date has been crossed out and 1st Jan 98 written in. That's what makes me think it's an early one and perhaps worth looking after.
