Hi guys.
I have just bought myself a 2001 2.6V6 CD. Found a lot of very useful info on here which helped a great deal when I was shopping aroound - so cheers for that.
I thought that, now I had it, I had better say hi to everyone. :)
Had a major service / cam-belts / water pump etc done yesterday. Though they did forget the tensioners/guides so it has to go back again next week. :(
Had a rover 600 for the last 7 years, which I wasa big fan of as it was pretty much bullet proof (good ole honda internals). Pretty gutted to have to get rid of it, but thought I would get something with a few more gadgets and a bigger engine. The omegas seemed to be a hefty ammount of car for the cash so thought id have some of that.

Welcome to the site - I'm guessing by your username (and comments above) that you are a Honda fan ;)
Honda = Had One, Never Drive Another ;D (nah, seriously, they ain't bad :))
I have to worry that a garage that does not know to do tensioners, do they know what they are doing? Are they using the right locking/timing kit (the valve timing on GM v6 cannot be set correctly without the proper timing kit). Check this.

Had crossed my mind. They kept insisting that they had fitted everything in the kit. When I asked what the kit consisted of they said "er - well - a belt". I said that I wasn't sure that you could really call a belt everything.
I specifically went with one of the big national garages run in conjunction with a well known national breakdown service (not sure if we are allowed to give names) so that I would have some confidence. >:(
2nd post and i'm already griping like, well, a person who gripes a lot. ;).
Still liking the car a lot - thats the important thing. :y

I am still concerned. Ask them if they have a GM v6 locking kit. If they don't, get it done elsewhere. Whatever they may think and say, it is not possible to do this job without a locking kit (unlike most cars they probably do). Best case sceanrio is the car will have reduced performance. Worse case, valves and pistons have a little chat.

As far as the cambelt kit goes, you have 3 choices....
1. Take it back to a garage who clearly haven't a clue as they only changed the belt! ::)
2. Dependant on location (fill it in on your profile, it may well be a help to you in future) you may be able to get one of the experts to do the job properly for you (and for a heck of a lot less than a garage!)
3. Buy the DVD of how to do the cambelt change, a bargain at £3, loan a cambelt locking kit and do it yourself.
Whichever you choose, get the water pump done at the same time. It is 5 minutes extra work, and £25 for the pump.

:)Welcome. As mentioned fitting a belt over old pulleys is like painting over rust. Had all mine done & one pulley (which he kept to show me) was "knotchy" so would have burnt the belt. However i did'nt know to change waterpump as still learning but many people in the know on here.
Do you ride a CBR600? [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

The locking/timing kit consists of 2 cam wedges (red and green), a 6" long crank lock, a small wedge, and a 'double horshoe' timing guide. If they do not have all parts, don't trust them. In fact, ask for a full refund on what they have done, as they have not done as per the manufacturer's mandatory instructions.

:(Last bike was a Bandit which i loved, prefer riding upright!!! but need to do my test so maybe one day i'll have another in the garage.
Bare in mind i'm 44 so rode a new Kwak KH250 2 stroke triple on L plates @ 17 with no need to take test. Reckon i should have Grandad rights!!!
When you'd just got off your Yammy FS1E (fizzy) the KH was a fast bike. [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]
