Hi Guys, I've yet another noob, but have been lurking for awhile now with lots of interest. My wifes got a Rover 600 diesel and I have a Vauxhall Monterey v6 as my economical car :P
But as with most things cuts need to be made and I've always like Omegas, but not the oddly sighted rust a lot of them seem to get.
Never flirted with derv much, but now I've told my wife how hers can be tuned, I cannot, just CANNOT have a slower diesel than her.
Currently I'd be mooching for a (hopefully hi-spec) 2.5td Omega, as I've gotta grow up out of gas guzzlers than suck me dry.
We've got some dogs and a couple of young horses as well.. Damn no wonder I'm always skint ;D.
I haven't seem much of driving impressions on the 2.5td diesels, so I eagerly grab any 2.5td impressions and info.
Cheers

Hello and welcome. Just bare in mind that they are not called Tractors for nothing you know ;)

Yes , but then I'll tune it ;)
My monty only gives at best 22mpg. The wifes 600td does 54mpg and has approx 96,or 101 bhp not sure exacly. But mucho tuning kit to get it upto 130+ bhp. My thinking given my appreciation for meegas and big, proper engines is that an Omega manual BMW detuned lump at 143bhp + tune = good fun and lots of mpg, although not a patch on the rovers.
I'm only looking at mid-facelift up and if I'm lucky I'll maybe get to budget for a new-shape model.

Welcome to the site :)
Be aware that the BMW tractor engine is detuned heavily in the Omega for a reason - because otherwise it rips the autobox to shreds!
If you get a manual, not really an issue. If you get an auto, you'll have to swap the AR25 box with a stronger AR35 box.
As for tuning, have a word with user Omegatoy - he can supply chips for this engine. I have one in my tractor, and it improves economy and performance. I believe he can supply much higher performance chips as well, but that may shorten engine life. Everyone who has been in his Omega 2.5TD estate always comment on how quick it is.
On the odd occasion my tractor actually works, I average mid to high thirties mpg wise. Around town, they guzzle still though.

Welcome aboard. I had a diesel pug 306 which was a good all rounder & i've got a diesel Landy, but i love the big6, 35.2 on a run, round town not so clever 22/23 but to me the engine suits the car. [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]
