Well here's one more lamb to the slaughter!
June 18th 2007, I bought an Omega, 2000, GLS I think, 2.0l Ecotec with (only) 128K on the clock. Excellent body, transmission(?) and the interior is 95% good. Week 2 it needed a clutch €1,325.68 (Stg. 650) and a steering arm six weeks later. I do intend to carry out all non-specialist work myself and I have the NCT(MOT) due in January. Currently, it drifts to the left despite new front tyres and steering alignment, the front door check straps have pulled out of both doors but it makes for easy closing. The headlights are pathetic on a good day but it is one comfortable wagon and returns 33 to 38 mpg average at motorway speeds. I hope to be able to give as much assistance as I know I'll receive during my ownership but already I think that the only thing to replace an Omega is another Omega!

Welcome to the forum and i know what you mean about the lights, but as with everything else, they can be upgraded with post 98 model year projector type lamps to help you see in the dark.
