Hello everyone,
I thought it was time to put fingers to keypad and say hello to the new world of THE OMEGA or is it O'Mega! ;D
First things first, just a brief background........I have always been mad about cars especially Vauxhalls, I had my own valeting business for 5 years and now work as a manager for SATA UK Ltd (Top of the range sprayguns)
It's about time I stopped buying old cars (Still have 2 x MK2 Cavs ;)) and buy something a little special.
I have my eye on a Silver-Saloon-Omega-Elite-2.5-V6-Wreg (2000), but it's done 138,000miles :o
As I am a V6 Virgin what are the main faults/spec I should look out for?
I'm already getting 6 months Warranty/Tax + full MOT.
Many thanks!

Hello and welcome to the best Omega Forum on the Net :y

"Hello" and welcome :)
-
welcome to the forum, for a better response you might wanna post your query in the general help section but if its been serviced regularly and well looked after including the all important cambelt and tensioners, then dont let that mileage worry you
-
Hi and welcome to the forum :y
The main thing to look for is servicing, make sure it has had the cambelt and tensioners done every 40,000 miles or 4 yrs which ever comes first. The oil coolers sometimes let go if there's not been the correct mixture of anti freeze and most of the time its misdiagnosed as head gaskets and you can get a bit of mayo on the oil filler cap/filler neck when the car is used for short journeys. Cam cover gaskets leak and the oil drips onto the exhaust manifold if the breathers haven't been cleaned or oil changed regularly, heater bypass valves can leak in drip onto the diss pack causing a miss fire but none of the above are expensive and easy to do for the home mechanics oh and 138,000 miles is nothing :y

Hi mate welcome to the site :y
If you fill out your profile with what your car is e.g 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 GLS, CDX, Elite, it will make it a little easier for people to help :y

Hello & Welcome :y

Hi Sparticus and welcome aboard. :y
138k on a V6 is not too bad - my first Omega had 132k on the clock and ran smooth as silk, just watch out for leaking rocker cover gaskets.
-
To everyone...... Thankyou for the warm welcome! :)

Hello and welcome to the site ;)

Welcome to the site :)
138k is nothing for these engines :y
Cambelt and tensioners need to be done every 40k/4yrs. Cam cover gaskets can fail, but doable following our guides.
The suspension bushes can fail around that time, but again doable if you are handy with the spanners.
