Hi Everyone,
I just bought my first Omega. I havent felt this excited about owning / driving a car since I passed my test.
3.0 Omega Elite 99 Sreg in a nice velvet green..Extremely impressed by the motor and extremely shocked by the low mpg.
I've been adviced already to join Autobahn Stormers for the trade club card..
I've read alot of posts here especially on maintenance and service advice, it's all very informative.
Does anyone have any general advice on how to look after the Omega ? Any known problems to keep an eye out for ?
Also Any insurance companies you recommend?
thanks in advance for any help and I hope to get some pics up soon and be an active member of the forum.
;D

Hello & Welcome :y
Enjoy your stay! sounds like youve been well advised so far
Yes, joining ABS will save a fortune ;)
Low MPG, ahh well, you can't really pick a car like this on its economy! The cheapness of the car helps though
Insurance, I've renewed this week, and gone with Bell, £260 fully comp, full no claims, no points, ring em, they do play on price ;)
Regular oil changes are the main key! every 5000 recommended
Also clean the breather system, may save you a lot of grief, see the maint guide section.
Make sure the Cambelt & tensioners are changed at at least recommended intervals (4 Y, or 40K)
A coolant flush, with the newer Vauxhall Pink antifreeze wont hurt, and may just help prevent some coolant issues.
Basically give it a good service, and take it from there
Oil, filter, fuel filter, antifreeze, breathers, air filter, check the scuttle drains dont fill with water, they have a habit of getting blocked.
As you are in Derby, may I suggest a trip to Nottingham to see Mark's DTM Calib, he will give the car a tech-2'ing, update any systems that need doing, esp the gearbox which will make the car drive even better, all for a very low price (see the boy's signature for details)

The car has had the Cambelt kit and water pump replaced 6000 miles ago.
I've got Vauxhall receipts for this and lots of other work. SO she's good to go.
I'm gonna change the oil this week and research replacing the brake discs..
The car has a few niggly faults like bulbs need replacing and the sat nav voice commands dont work..
I havent had much experience working on cars and find the photo walk throughs on the forum really helpfull.
I'll try to record any work that I do and post the results.
