				Hello,

I joined the Omega Owners Forum to find out information about the Omegas and this site seems to have a lot of great info. I am based in Japan (work), so there are not too many Omegas around here, but I like all things Opel, especially the Diesels. I do not own an Omega at the moment.

I am very intersted in the engines and transmissions the Opel (Omegas) use as I also like inline 6 cylinder diesel engines, either petrol or diesel. My most recent car has been a Nissan Terrano 4x4 Diesel 2.7 DTi, (4 Cyl) but I am not really a 4WD person. The economy was average as the Terrano is pretty heavy and 100 BHP is asking a bit much to pull it around.

The nick is from a car bought back in the early 90s when I lived in the US for a year - a Southern  1972 Plymouth Satellite w/ 400 CI 4-BBL (6.6L) to rod around in and which I drove across country twice. The car got 15 Highway MPG on a good day and to fill it up cost $20 for 20 Gallons (back then). I had a ball with that thing and all my extra cash went into the tank. But I blame that on being young and clueless :-)

I am very interested in the technical details of the Opel (BMW) 2.5 TDs and all aspects of TD performance / tuning for this engine family.

 Cheers,

 Ian B.

				Welcome :)

The Vauxhall Omega 2.5TD uses the BMW M51 tds engine but is detuned to 120bhp to protect the weak autobox.  If you get a manual, or put in a stronger auto, its easy to rechip back to BMW spec, and beyond.

				Hello All,

Sorry for the late response (away on work etc.). Thanks for all the warm welcomes. Looking forward to learning lots about these cars and they engine / transmissions combos.

I am especially interested in Omega Diesel tuning modifcations. More on that later.

 Cheers,

 Ian B.
