Many thanks....
As of last night, I am also on look-out for fuel tank flap, but from a 'Midnight Black' car (I think pre and post facelifts have the same flap). Some idiot (me) ran into it while refueling yesterday at the local BP station.

Why were you running along the side of your car? ;D

Sorry MJ, I shouldn't joke, I would have been ready to commit murder if someone did that to mine.

It was the end of a very long day, where everything went wrong at the office... We needed to get some goods sent back to a supplier, which they shipped out by mistake in the first place and invoiced us for. Well they made a whole catalogue of errors and to top it all mistakenley rejected the goods when we sent it back - and when we complained again they said that the 5-day window for retruning un-wanted goods expired and according to their T&C there is nothing more they can do about it... what a load of BS.
Anyway, other things went wrong - as they do - and I left the office around 18:00 realising I was short on petrol. I couldn't get into the petrol station through the usual entrance because of roadwroks, so I drove-in from the opossite direction and ended up parked too close to the pump. While filling-up I put my hand in my pocket and discovered the wrapper from a snack bar I had earlier, so I made a sharp move froward to place it in the bin, while squeezing between the car and the pump - and heard the crack fo doom as the flap was being bent backwards on it's hinges, denting the paintwork behind it, and then ending up hanging on a thread.
And, at £1 per litre I can't risk not having the flap and let some nightly thief syphon out 70 litres of BP finest!
I took the whole thing off when I got home (only two Torx screws), poured on the broken bit large amount of Ardlite Epoxy (the thing that come in two tubes mixed together), left it until lunchtime today to harden and then put it back in place. It is sort of OK but still a bit limp when open, wouldn't mine having a new one.
Problem is that if I get one from Vx it will come un-painted, so I'll need to spray it and the surface is too large so it will never really look the same. The best bet is to find one from the scrappies - but I havn't seen many older Black Omegas, seems like all the black ones are facelifts, which are not that common at the braekers yet.
Incidentally, when fitting the flap back today, I was parked next to a M-reg blue Omega that had a white plastic flap... Strange coincidence, looks like he lost his falp as well and got a new one of Vx but didn't paint it.

Sadly not in London, and not for BP Ultimate... :(
I pay £1.02 >:(
Hey, let's start a fuel thread! ;D

MJ, if you buy a can of spray paint I think you could make a very good job of it yourself.
If you imerse the can into hot water before you spray, it will come out in a finer jet.
Rub down between coats with fine wet and dry (wet) and keep repeating the process.
Finish off with spray laquer, heating it again first.
You will be surprised at the result.

I had a mate a long time ago who had a Mark II Cortina, always a bad starter, so he used to take the airfilter off put a few drops of Ronson Lighter Fuel into the carb.
Started first time.

Thanks AA, now that you mention it I actually have the Vx kit consisting of a paint spray can and clear laquer can (bought it with the car 5 years ago, never used it and forgot all about it!), but come to think of it I might as well simply get any-colour flap from the breakers - dark colour preferably - and then rub off the old paint and re-spray. No point in exercising this on a new Vx flap... So does anyone have a dark-coloured Omega breaking...? I'll post also in the 'bits wanted' forum. Thanks for the advice...

Thanks for this, the hinge looks different than mine, I guess that pre-facelift and facelift are not the same after all... :(
