No not a confession! Did anyone see the program on ITV1 @21:00 Tuesday 21st August.... Great prog, it looked at speeding and parking offences.... there is no such thing as a parking offence! and offence is a criminal issue, parking is a contravention, which is civil!! So! in a nuttty shell, any parking tickets with "Offence" on them is just a piece of paper!!!! Also, LASER guns (Hand Held) are prone to error, they call it "Slip" I'll explain, if a laser beam is being pointed at your bonnet as you approach, say, at the washer area, then the operator tilts the gun to the front edge of the bonnet. It will be "Slip" they showed you a diagram of how such a movement would allow the detector to cause an error on the reading.. NOT to your advantage, I might add.............
If it's on again, watch it... one bloke had £25k of fines squashed because of the word "Offence!" on his tickets..
Though I know that this site strictly does NOT condone illegal goings on.... as an individual I say "BURN THE CAMERAS" and I've never been flashed by one... drivers travel at 40 mph + upto them, dirive thru at 28mph, then rag it back to 40 + where's the logic in that???? Eh!
DC
Go on slate me...........

Speed cameras are there for a purpose and racing up to them at 40mph and slowind down to 28mph until past the said cameras is just defeating the object, so to speak and as for burning them, why such a idea should enter your head i dont know.
There is only one way to deal with this matter..
Fit a rocket launcher to your car... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I 'know somebody' ;) who is a pilot in the RAF, and one of the favourite pastimes when practicing low level is to set off the roadside speed indicators (those digital boards that tell you to slow down your doing xx mph), if you get it just right, near the valleys, it can be done. ;D ;D ;D

did you ever hear the story of the letter of complaint that was sent by a certain welsh police force to the RAF asking for compensation for a knackered hand held speed detector that a bored police officer pointed at a tornado gr1 that was doing low level manouvers causing it to lock up? the RAF wrote back saying that they police force were lucky that they were not looking for compo for the officers and vehicle as the detector had activated the threat warning sytem in the aircraft and it was only through the quick thinking and expertism of the aircrew in stopping the aircraft firing a missile at the threat....needless to say the police force dropped its claim... ;D ;D ;D

Its one of a number of urban myths that may or may not be true. (But probably has more than a wee grain of truth in it! ;) )
Perhaps DaveL could give the view from the RAF side of the fence?? ;)
