Hi there,
Over the coming months (years [smiley=embarassed.gif]) I shall be shoehorning an X30XE or Y32SE & manual box into a Triumph Spitfire.
An Omega seems to be the best place to source these so here I am ;D

Hi, welcome to the forum. :y
Sounds like a cool project.
Please take plenty of pitures and keep us informed of your progress.

Hi and welcome to the OOF.
As skruntie said, should be an intresting project.
-
My mate has rebuilt a Spitfire, but would never have thought of putting Miggy running gear in it.
I would have concerns on body strength and the rear xle/suspension/brakes etc.
-
Yup I don't trust them at all!
Shall be replacing rear suspension anyway, may end up using most of the omega rear and just cut down the rear axle by 16cm on each side.
Would make life easier for fitting brakes and wheels that can put the power down.
As for the chassis strength, it only has to look like a spit on the outside, ;) Either reinforce or build a mostly new space frame.
Just getting large quantity's of planning out of the way now while I clear the driveway to make room for 2 cars in bits.

A V6 in a Spit :o 8-) 8-) I can't see why not, some years back i read an article in a mag where someone fitted a Rover V8 in one, NICE 8-) 8-) :y :y
Welcome to you too :)

I was considering the rover v8 but the x30 is more powerful (stock), lighter and smaller.
Although the rover is still a possibility.
-
Hello Sam and a warm welcome to you :y
Always loved Triumph Spitfire's and fitting in a big miggy engine sounds a great idea! I take it the front suspension, let alone the electrics, etc will have to be altered? Anyway, as already stated, keep us all posted, with pictures, please. Us miggy owners are more than interested! :y :y :y

I have always understood that those engines were unreliable, heavy as you state and the x30 is a far better performing engine. I may however be thinking more of the 1970s lump! Anyone have any views on the Rover V8? :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/
PS If you answer this please take it into "General Chat".

Hi Sam, welcome aboard mate :y
V6 Spit should fly :o I should think that almost everything will need uprating to cope with the extra performance :-?
Please do keep us posted, we'd love to see it
