Hello Omega owners,
Tomorrow I will be collecting my first Omega. It is a 1995 3.0 Elite with a manual box. I have owned 3 Carlton GSi300's previously, so I have a taste for big 6 cylinder vauxhalls. When I took this car for a test drive it was very reminiscent of the Carltons.
My main purpose for buying this car was to participate in an 'introduction to drifting' course at Oulton Park which my wife is treating me to for my birthday, but I am already trying to justify to myself the prospect of keeping it as a second car.
The history of the car says that it last had a cambelt 50,000 miles ago. I read that the interval was reduced from 80,000 to 40,000 miles on the v6's so I'm planning to get the belt changed before I go drifting and spend the day bouncing off the limiter.
I have had a look on 'honest john's' website to check for common problems before I committed and he listed a fair number. Can anyone please give me an indication from their own experiences whether these cars need constant care and attention or do they soldier on with just basic maintenance.

Welcome :)
If looked after, they are reliable, and cheap to run (fuel aside).
Common areas for failure:
Crank sensor
cam cover gaskets
Front lower wishbone bushes
Steering Idler
rear springs
On early ones, the doors rust!
So nothing drastic to be honest.... :y

Hi and welcome to the forum.I have had 3 Carlton Gsi's in the past and I am now on my 2nd Omega MV6.
The Omega is definately more refined than the Gsi.
