I've just been reading through the forum and catching up on what I've missed, and it has just hit me, that the smilies, or emoticons, are being hugely overused!
Click on any thread, and the posts are nearly all just bloody full of the things!
I personally find this really off-putting, and wonder if, as a group of adults, we really need to be using them so much?
How about maybe mutually agreeing on a few basic rules for use of smilies. Eg, only ending a sentance with one emoticon, rather than ten or so in a row, which I see very regularly.
Hope nobody thinks I'm being a miserable git, but I do feel that the smilies are being overused in a big way.
Any thoughts welcome, but as this is the suggestions box, please keep replies serious and on-topic.
Cheers
James

Sometimes, they can be useful to give a 'facial expression' that is missing from written text, esp tongue in cheek sacasm etc type comments....
