Title: Value of car
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 26 August 2007, 23:27:27
Ideas on value, if I were to decide to get rid, in favour of an Omega?

I really don't know what it's worth now it's fixed, so ideas all welcome.

You are as qualified as anyone, James, to say what it's worth. Sometimes we ask these questions because we are hoping others will lift our expectations...but...you know  ;)

Actually mate, I really don't know what to expect.

I have an ESTIMATE in my head, but I'd like to see if other opinions confer with that ;)

£1000-1200??? Very difficult to see past the 'high mileage vectra taxi' bit  :-/

Yep... the mileage will kill the value.. however the condition and LPG and the fact it's an estate with what's essentially a brand new cylinder head on it should compensate the balance a bit.

If I could get enough for a nice Omega, I'd probably be happy...

I am still in 2 minds if I want to keep or sell the Elite when its fixed.

Sorry, no idea.

Look through AT and other rags and get a feel.  The mileage is a real, real killer on it though...

The dual fuel bit and recond head will push the value up - you could run it for a year and save the purchase price

Realistically......imo its worth about £500, the dual fuel, should help it get this, without the dual fuel its pretty worthless. Ive seen high miler diesels (used as taxi's of course) not as old and less miles not go for much more.

But good luck to ya, if you can get more for it  :y

I would have thought around £500 - £700.

Nice to see you back here BTW james. :y I've never seen the likes of it, people leaving and coming back. Whatever next ::)

Yeah, i'm seeing the figures ok. But I think when they get to that sort of mileage they are not really worth that much more, especially on a base 1.8 engine.

The only thing that looks in favour is that the car is only a 2001 so not that old. I would be tempted to put some alloys on it though just to brighten it up a bit, might help clinch a potential sale? What are the tyres like? The interior tatty?

Tyres all well above legal - rears will both be new tomorrow. I'm bidding on some genuine VX wheel trims. I don't want to alter it from factory spec, as it puts people off when it comes to insurance.

Interior is mint, exterior is very very tidy.

I saw a S reg Veccy LPG with CAMBELT FAILURE go on fleabay for over £700 not long ago!

Yup, I'm not going to disagree with that....
