Hi All!
I'm not an Omega owner (as yet) I'm a very happy Saab 9000 driver, however.....
I have been given first refusal on an absolute Minter of an MV6, its an ex Met Police model, 3.2 Manual, White (of course) and its been fettled somewhat, last dyno run gave 297 to the rear wheels.
I just know so little about them, I do know that it sounds sweet and goes like absolute stink but as much as that's nice, what would I need to be looking out for in the way of niggles & know issues? Any pointers? Sorry its a bit vague but I'll be getting a lot more information as soon as I can as well as some pictures.
The Owner is family, (well, getting there) a detailer for the last 15 years and every ounce of his skill has gone into looking after this car since he's owned it, it has full history since it left the mets ownership, the transport agency are being *difficult* at best with supplying the history of the car while they were resposible for it but looking at the overall condition and at how well this car performs there is no doubt it was very well looked after.
Thanks in advance peeps :)
I'm pretty sold in truth but I need to at least look like I'm giving it some thought :)

Hello & Welcome :y
hard to advise without seeing the car & price.
explod are low on toys, he may or may not have recified this etc.
-
Thanks JimBob, you are right, its not so easy to advise without seeing the car or knowing the price. I have no pics at present but I'll work on getting some.
Its an X plate model, 133k miles and he is asking £2k
There are limited toys but I'm not worried about them so much, its got uprated brakes, suspension, HID lights, LSD, Carbon door panels etc. There is working climate control but no leather.

would have to bloody good for that price! I would expect under or around a grand!

Welcome to OOF D :y
As JB said, for an ex-plod with no toys and an early facelift to boot no more than £1200. If it has been retro fitted with some or all of the toys then the price would be negotiable.

Hello and a warm welcome to you! :y

Hi and welcome to the forum ;)
£2000 is way to much, I sold an ex police 03 estate which was very tidy and had leather for £1300 last summer.

Hi all, thanks for all the welcomes and the advice :) I was a bit dubious on the asking price having seen a fair few around that were a lot cheaper.
Having no knowledge on certain cars tends to leave you open for people, especially family I find, to try and get one over on you, now I can go a little better armed into the negotiations :)
Will see what happens when I chat to him next.
Thanks again.

hi mate, welcome.
Although you might get higher performance spec, I've heard those police cars do take a beating during their lifetime. Coming from a policeman friend of mine. So suspension could be mashed from going over speed bumbs at 50 mph with the blues and twos on etc...
I'm sure a more knowledgeable omega person could confirm/dispell this?

Welcome to OOF ! :y
Well my advice to you is this....
ex Police vehicles are driven at Warp speed, loads of drivers will have driven them.
However , I own an ex unmarked ARV 3.2 special saloon, colour grey , its the best car Ive ever owned. My last car was a Volvo D5 , the omega is great to drive, cheaper parts and you meet some great people on here.
You will find most ex police vehicle are in the shade of white, but if you can try and find a different colour as this means it wouldnt have all the holes in the roof etc.. just my personal opinion and dont wish to offend any white omega owners out there,,, they are a great buy and would have been serviced by the workshops every month.
I was very lucky and knew my car from day one of its police service and the guys that worked on it.
Price of £2k,,, well high... at auction £800 max .
Hope that helps and please PM me if you need any help finding something ex Police.
Regards
