Title: Air Con - Recharge
Post by: Bernie400 on 18 July 2006, 14:28:27
I think the aircon needs to be regassed, can you just confirm for me.

When the button is pressed the engine revs do dip but only slightly not as much as before - it used to be quite significant.

It still blows out cold air but with the blower on 5 it is like it is on 1 if that makes sense. So no oomph and not enough cold air to actually cool the car down.

If I am right does anyone know of someone in the Chester area who will do it and what is the realistic max price I should pay.

Do you hear a clicking noise form the compressor when the AC is switched on?

Can't help you out with anywhere to get it done in the Chester area, but last time I had my aircon done (not the Omega) I paid about £95.00. This included a service of the aircon system, re-gassing, deodorising the system to get rid of smelly bacteria and adding dye to detect future leaks. This was a year or so ago so might be more than that now.

Just had mine done in Chester!
think it was £70 plus VAT

Sandy Lane Garage, down towards Farndon,
Highly recommended.  (also dead easy for me cos I work 5 mins walk away)

FYI DO NOT use Chess on parkgate road, twice failed to find a leak which sandy lane found easily.

There is a place down at Sealand as well, dont know anything about them, but were more expensive, as were Crane Bank.

For info, you should be able o get a re-gas done for about 50-60 quid.........and you add dye etc as standard normaly.

It might not need recharging....from how i read your post....theres not a lot of cold air flow....it maybe the pollen filter blocked up.....to check remove the pollen filter and then see how it cools.

Just an idea

Agree with TD, check the Pollen filter.

After mine was re-done I can set mine on a slow fan speed and it still pumps out icey cold air

last night ended up being full of things to do that I didnt want to do, so did not get chance to check the air con.

However I am out in her tonite, so will check and remove pollen filter and see what happens.

thanks for that taxi driver
