Title: Are Elites lower?
Post by: jonny2112 on 20 July 2006, 22:08:56
Just a simple question really, and one which I'm sure will have a simple answer(would need to be simple for me to understand it!!)
Do Elite models have a lower ride height than more standard models? When I see one I always think it does, particularly pre-facelift, but sometimes feel the colour coded lower mouldings create such an 'illusion'. In that respect I suppose the MV6 might be the same.
What's the answer please?

my understanding is that they are not lowered, however they do run 17'' wheels which may go some waqy to giving that illusion, i understand the rest of the range is either 15'' or 16''

As standard, Elite has same suspension setup as rest of range (except MV6).  As stated, facelifts have 17" rims (prefacelift has 16").

MV6 is lowered by about 30mm IIRC, as are ex-plod cars (some are called elite on logbook).

A previous owner may have lowered for a firmer ride.

Not all have the same suspension set up. I believe that the cars made after 1998 they have a sportier set up than the earlier models and also differerent final drive ratio. I changed recently the 2 rear springs and i want through lots of spring catallogues with many different part numbers/per model/per chassi number. It is a bit complicated thing.
