Title: TC Purchase
Post by: Allenm on 07 August 2006, 12:06:44
Anyone around the Milton Keynes area got access to a trade card?

I need to get a cambelt kit, Water Pump, Aux Belt & anti-freeze (not sure why I need the anti-freeze?).

Cheers
Merv

Antifreeze required, as when waterpump comes out, so does all antifreeze...

The bits together - especially the antifreeze - will be too heavy which makes it un-economical to ship by post or courier.

But if you travel as far south as Lonodn I may be able to help...

Could someone let me know the part numbers and TC price of the bits so can I give VX a ring and see how far it is worth going to get the bits.

The cambelt kit is 9201887  £84.66 (thanks Mark)
So I need the part number and price for
  Aux Belt
  Water Pump
Anti-Freeze (not sure how much I need).

Thanks
Merv

The total capacity of the cooling system is 10L, made of 5L antifreeze and 5L water. Since you will be loosing quite a lot of coolant, I suggest that you take the opportunity and completely drain and flush the cooling system, for which you will need one 5L container of Vx Long-Life Antifreeze (Red). Not sure about the P/N, you can just tell them this is what you need, the TC cost is around £7 iirc.

Alternatively, Halfords make a ready-mixed lomg-life (Red) coolant, but keep in mind that it is ready to use and already includes the water so you will need 10L of the stuff, not 5L.

I think you save around £35 - £40 on the cambelt kit on its own iirc, so probably is worth travelling...

What about Mark DTM and RonaldMcBurger? Didn't they have cambelt kits for sale? Or was it collect-only?

Try Autovaux, they sell genuine VX kits and also after pattern ones too !
Quite a lot of the time they can come in under trade club price due to there contacts and purchasing power !

I'm not expecting mine back for another couple of weeks - hopefully you'll be sorted by then...

well when I bought most of those bits about 7 weeks ago, trade club pricing was:

water pump (p/n 93170697) £20.41 + VAT (retail £37.80 + VAT)
5l Vx long life coolant (p/n 93165087) £6.93 + VAT (retail £9.30 + VAT)

no idea about the aux belt pricing though ... didn't get one ... that's a £23.22 saving (inc. VAT) on those two items alone ...

You could always do what I do, when you go to local VX dealer just ask for trade price, you might be pleasently supprised.   [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

ps Aux belt £11 ish from AutoVaux
