Hi Peeps
Prolly another silly question but....
If the EML is on...Not in limp mode....no power loss either.....will the fuel consumption suffer?
Does the ECU alter engine settings if the EML is on?
Reason I ask is my EML came on this morning.....took 3 goes to get it to start....then ran fine as above but EML stayed on nearly all day.
I went to Ipswich today.....360 miles round trip.....and my fuel consumption on LPG was back to where it was before I changed the clogged air filter.....well 1mpg better! it averaged (worked out with mileage and how much lpg i used) 25mpg (no aircon on), i was expecting high 20's. EML did go out after about 300 miles.
If no is the answer i think a trip to lpg installers again to check setup, as i havent done this since i changed the air filter for a nice clean one and i guess it could be now running too lean.
I read the engine codes just now and got
P0170 NP Rich/lean exhaust
P0340 NP Camshaft No/Incorrect signal
P1700 NP SVS request via CAN eh???
P0700 (didnt say NP or Present) EOBD Error stored by transmission control module/MIL request from transmission control module
From the transmission i got
P0727 CAN receive error eh???
p1781 CAN receive error eh???
I had these codes before about 3 weeks ago......vx dealer just reset the codes!!
Theres gotta be summat going wrong here......and im going to book it in with another dealer...coz if i take it back to orig dealer and they just reset the codes again......this to me is unacceptable! Do they expect me to keep taking it in every few weeks for them to reset the codes?? I can do that!!
While i was there i also looked at CLIMATE
Got
32 Left solar sensor low input
34 Right solar sensor low input
Any ideas what that means or what they do??
Cheers

Was the Camshaft one present last time?

Was the Camshaft one present last time?
Just went to double check previous post.....on the other site (useful for summat!!)
Yep it was.....i had forgotten last time what the code meant.....you helpfully reminded me, also you corrected me on what P0170 was, as i got that wrong last time!!
Cheers
-
Hmmm.....it sounds like the same prob. I had, turned out to be the cam sensor.
Mine, according to the dealer, was reading transmission codes.
-
Could be a sign of a failing cam sensor...
Not sure about the other codes - maybe a result of lpg?
-
Cheers guys
Think i'll take it to the other dealer across other side of town.....will cost me 15 notes in cab fares ;D
but rather go there as they have been helpful with a prob on my vectra dual fuel (they have lpg facilities) and also signing form for trade club card, unlike dealer within walking distance! Better do it pretty soon as cab fares go up 1st sept!! :D
I agree with you Jaime about P0170....and not bothered about that one.....but others carnt be lpg related, can they?
Actually.....thinking about it you sound like the blokey behind the service desk at my nearest vx dealer.. ;D...1st time i took it there with these faults....this will be the 4th time....he blamed the lpg conversion! he even said ecu was complaining of lpg errors......tho he couldnt show me......afaik its only the proper dual fuel jobbies that the ecu knows about the lpg.
Second visit.....they didnt mention the lpg conversion and changed the MAF sensor as the fix.
Did go a couple of months b4 prob came back......
Third visit the vx dealer just reset the codes.....no fault found!
When I get the EML on its always on starting.....never when its been running a while....when starting and for at least 30secs depending if hot or cold its on petrol.
Cheers

Exactly Dave!

Omega is booked in with vx dealer other side of town on tuesday.......will let you what they decide is wrong :-?
Eml light came back on this morning when starting and has been on all day :(....done about 200 miles today
-
My monies on the cam sensor.
-
Hi all
Well me meega has been at vx dealer this morning....the one across town
Just had the 'phonecall'......any one want to guess their diagnosis??
AA reckons cam sensor.....is he right?? :-/
Okay i'll give you a clue......no he's not ;D
Fancy another go AA?
-
I'll give it ago it wouldn't be the lambda sensor would it :)
-
Another clue time.....£660 + VAT :o
Sorry nixoro......wrong
Plus they carnt do it until the morning :( but they did offer to deliver it back to me
-
For a price that high I would go with the ECU playing silly beggers.
Hope its not the case.
Although that Vx's answer to everthing.
-
Yep...correct...they're changing the ECU ::)
-
Wasn't it you who had it replaced or someone else on hear.
If it was yourself surely that would still be under warranty.
-
Nope its the first time they've decided to change the ECU
Its was kinda sweet when they phoned to tell me it needed a new ECU.
Went like this....
'Hello this is **** from ****, unfortunately is bad news sir.'
Whats wrong?
'We have read the error codes, and they dont make sense, so unfortunately it needs a new ECU at a cost of £660 + vat'
OK fine.....its under network Q warranty
'Oh we didnt realise that.....ok fine we'll ring Network Q then'
;D

I take it Network Q are covering the costs now or is it still to be confirmed.

And it prolly wont fix mine either until they do change the cam sensor :-/
But at least they're changing summat.....and not reset the codes and say NFF like other vx dealer ;)

I assume so....as the only phonecall I got a short while later was to say they couldnt do the job until the morning :(
Something to do with they have had 15 recoveries bought in during the past week :o and they are behind.
I read it as.......its an warranty claim now.....so you go to the back of the queue :-/
-
As you say put to the back of the queue can believe that, still hopefully they will get it sorted for you.
-
I expect TheBoy will know this....but anyone else please shout up.
When changing the ECU do they need the carpass?? or can they do 'clever' things with a TECH2 and its not needed?
Coz they havent got it.....its sitting about 10 feet away from me in the service book wallet.
Cheers
-
They didn't ask me for mine, suspect they have the info on computer.
-
The ECU and ATWS are tied together, but if ecu being changed, the ECU can learn the immbiliser with a Tech1/2. If immobilser being changed, I believe that comes with no pin set, and this is set when installed...
-
Thanyou muchly......no car pass needed.
-
Hope everything works out for you.
-
Yep...correct...they're changing the ECU ::)
Hmmm, would you like a pinch of salt with that, sir?
-
Thanyou muchly......no car pass needed.
Hmmm.....i spoke too soon.....just had vx dealer on the phone....wanting the imobiliser code and the key code :-?
-
If they are changing engine ecu, I'm surprised. Not something I've done, but TIS implies otherwise...

Thats what i thought they were doing, maybe i got it wrong and they are keeping the ecu and changing the rest of the Omega ;D
Coz that was early this morning......and still no car back :(

......it's the cam sensor...... ;)
-
It did get it the right way round ;D
Vx dealer just called......ecu changed and on its way back to me :)
When it arrives i gotta pop out to the supermarket ;D .... you are prolly right AA :'(
I wonder how long it will go without it putting on the EML.....could start a poll ;D

It won't come on again until you feel quite confident that it's fixed.
Maybe a few weeks from now, when you're not expecting it. That's usually how these things work. :o
-
You are prolly correct Kev. :(
However Omega is back and ive been to the supermarket....with no probs :)
Seems to be bit quicker :-/ bit like when i changed the really dirty air filter the other week.
Probably slow down again once the new ecu learns all the stuff it learns :(
I still cannot work tomorrow as the now the fooking windscreen has a blooming great big crack running across it......it was like this delivered back from vx dealer....
HOWEVER.....i cannot blame them for this.....as the crack has appeared from a dirty great big stone chip that i had in windscreen before i took it too them....i noticed it a few days ago...the stonechip i mean.
So its a phonecall to RAC autoscreens tomorrow morning (or whoever else can fit a new screen in it tomorrow)
-
I do hope your luck changes TD. ::)

Driver called me.....no gears and oil all over the road! :(
Went out to see Vectra....hes right ...oil everywhere....and carnt get any gears..but engine runs sweet...so called my mechanic.....he came out....and verdic gearbox is fooked :o apparently he reckons gearbox has foobarred....hole in it somewhere....it was dark...so not couldnt tell where....reckons it needs a another gearbox....its not my week i reckon :'(
-
Blimey and I thought I was having a spate of bad luck hopefully things will pick up for you.
