Another possible project! :D
I know the Autoboxes tend to go on the early 2.5 Diesels, but there is one advertised locally as having a 'slipping' auto box, its in a '97 2.0 with 91k miles..... which seams odd, as i have rarely seen problems with 2.0 boxes.
Could a simple oil change help things there? Its a private seller.....
-
At that mileage I would say oil - buy it as cheap as possible, change oil and clean filters, give it a service and sell!
-
PS I took a 2.0 Auto to 142000 miles and problems were as such.
1) Selector switch went - got oil change at same time (around 100,000)
2) Got a little noisy while cornering and changes a bit jerky - I sold it
I reckon oil was low because I had taken the radiator out wth out refilling the box

Cheers martin, looks a tidy car.
7 Months MOT & new tyres, body work looks in good condition too.
Only problem its a GLS but its a '97 model so being fairly new should get a good price.

Since joining this site and got the project bug i've been watching prices on e-bay, some go for ridiculously high money but most go for pocket money. so you may be lucky.

Indeed depends where it is, and who wants it.
But the slipping 2.0 Auto isn't on eBay ;)

I guess best case with slipping box is fluid, worse is replacement box (ronnie may be able to advise). Is it local?

Err ish.. found it on AT whist researching estate prices, its 30 miles away from here according to AT, but it could easily be 40 >:(
Not really sure on it, as its a GLS and they tend to be harder to flog. Being a 97 which would be a P Reg, i doubt it would have air-con. Only the basics are listed.

N reg GLS had steels & sunroof
P reg had alloys (nice ones) and air con

I think it came in on a very late P, my dads first Omega was a P GLS, did't have air-con :(
-
My first Omega was 6 months into P reg and had air con and really nice alloys
-
Mines a N plate GLS, got aircon, alloys, heated seats and front fogs. Still got a car400 though, damn
-
Looks like a change over period then!
Easiest way is avoid a GLS with sun roof and steels

This one has the nice alloys and a sun roof as well.
Going to get rid of Proj B before buying another one now i think...
