Could have gone to far and got stuck, you should have a bar in the boot kit which has a square tip.

You can stick it in the back of the motor one closest the gearbox and rotate it, it will very slowly move the seat forward.

Also if you can strip down the button assembley, check the actual switch is making a good connection

It may start to work when you wind it forward a bit.

Otherwise, it's a case of checking for voltage on the connectors, and motor terminals.

If was mine, I would suspect 'Werther blockage' in the runner.

Mine did this once.  Sitting on the seat wiggling whilst massaging the buttons soon sorted it out.

Thanks Tunnie, I would appreciate that, no rush. I must have one, it can go with the rest of the "must haves" that I never have used. (fuse puller, wheel stud remover, radio removal tool, dust cap tool from a Vectra)

What you need is this:

Looking at the seat (ie looking towards the back of the car) insert the sqaure end of the bar into the motor on the right hand side.

Turn it clockwise to bring the seat forward, and anti-clock to push it back. It will move very very slowly, takes about 50 turns to bring it about an inch! But fix on one point of the seat and you will see it slowly moving...

I don't suppose it'll shift by using a bit of brute force and having the button pushed to take it forward? There's nothing obstructing it is there?

Can you file down a bit of metal so it has the square bit on, and put in electric screwdriver?

Try jamming a straight screwdriver bit in the slot and use a drill should speed up the winding process it may work. :)

I had this problem - discovered 2 x £1 coins had fallen out of a pocket and stuck in the runners preventing the seat from moving. It was awkward getting them out, couldn't see them at first but eventually managed to ping them out with a long screwdriver. Best check carefully before dismantling further. :P
