Hi,
I keep getting this code P1700 Transmission Control Module Requested MIL Illumination.
Actually my problem is as follows:
On starting Engine up sometimes I need to hold key for 6 or 7 seconds instead of the usual instant fire, when this happens I do get the light on(spanner throught car symbol) This can happen when the engine is hot or cold. If I switch off and start up again always fires up instantly and the light goes off.
When checking error codes with cheap tech2 I always get
P0340 cam sensor and P01700. I have replaced the cam sensor and I am still getting the same results so the culprit seems to be the other code.
Do you Guys know were should I be looking to do something about this fault?
Thank you
Gascon

I get the same on mine except i get P0700 as well but it only does when starting from hot, never from cold.
Im suprised it wasnt the cam sensor tbh.
Vx dealer has changed on mine so far
MAF sensor
Engine ECU
Gearbox ECU
And it still isnt fixed....so you can count those out ::)
Im sure a guru will be along shortly that can help more.....
Engine and year would be helpful in the meantime... :)

Hi,
Looks like i`m here for the long haul.
Mine is a 2001 2.2 cd petrol facelift model
-
Ahhh same as mine then a 2.2
Vx dealer changed the cam sensor on mine yesterday.......it didnt fix it either :(
The P0700 has disapeared on mine now so im getting the same codes as you.
If you see my thread in general chat......my vx dealer has basically washed his hands of it now >:(

Isn't it a transmission problem? I would have thought that 'Transmission Control Module Requested MIL Illumination' pointed to the transmission having a gripe about something.

Three questions:
1) What gearbox does it have (auto/manual, guessing its auto due to the error codes)
2) What is the mileage?
3) Has the gearbox fluid ever been changed?
I would be checking the level of and probably changing the auto box fluid as I suspect that the gearbox is putting the engine into limp mode to reduce the torque through it.

Quick question
It hasnt been converted to LPG has it?
Just your name Gascon????
-
No is not converted to LPG
And Yes my autobox goes into Limp home mode same as yours. It`s only done 55k.
Autogearbox fluid has not been changed to my knowledge, so that will be next thing to try
