Title: Crank sensor on a 2.2?
Post by: Taxi_Driver on 20 October 2006, 13:08:34
Been to vx dealer to get said part, to see if it fixes my EML prob.

Now i need a bit of advice.....

I did a search on here but couldnt find any info about changing it.

So I got the dealer ( coz i dont have a copy obviously) to look up on TIS how to change it.

I think i now know where it is and where it plugs into......

But 1st question.....any reason why TIS mentions attaching the engine to a hoist and pulling it up a bit?...after removing various other bits. Coz i havent got a hoist and unless theres a very good reason for it, i dont intend to.

And is a new O ring seal that it mentions using for the new sensor important? Coz the new crank sensor didnt come with a new O ring  :(

If so.....anyone know the part number so I can get one in the morning

Also anything else i need to know

Cheers

PS I'll try to do a 'how to' if there isnt one already and ive missed it

I believe the crank sensor is the same on 2.2 as the 2.0 plugs into the loom above the alternator and runs across the rocker cover then downwards and in, fiddly but bolts in behind the AC and Pas Units

Last time i asked, i remember being told it was eeasier to lift engine on the 2.2 as the air con commpressor or what ever is in the way!

However i do recall someone saying it is possible , to do in situ, but a bit like papering your hall through your letter box ! Fiddly !

O ring no is :- 90307502 mate

Cheers guys for the replies  :y

And thanks for the part no Mark  :)

Think I'll have a go at removing it tomorrow and if it proves too fiddly or impossible (with my limited skills), it'll be off to the non vx garage so they can use a hoist on it  :y

Taxi,

Good to see you are trying to sort your problem.

My meega is driving okay at the moment, still coming up with P0700 and P1700, rang vauxhall during week, service engineer said it requires new K69 & K85 roughly translated means Engine ECU & Transmission ECU.

You said that having new of the above didnt solve the Codes & limp home mode.

Anythings worth a try, I still think maybe a gearbox sensor is expanding when engine hot causing an open circuit. I have TIS and have found position of Oil temp sensor, will check all gearbox sensors (External).

Will let u know how I get on.

Good luck with the crank sensor, let me know how the fitting went as I want to change mine.
