Title: Oil level
Post by: mar892ree on 27 October 2006, 16:39:31
Hi

Please just remind me of the amount of engine oil used in a 2.2 ( including filter ) !

I seem to remember someone saying there was a mis-print over the exact quantity used in the VX handbook !

Also will flushing the coolant system via the header tank, remove ALL exsisting coolant !

Cheers

According to the Users Manual:

I am not aware of a mis-print, maybe someone else is...

4.5 litres is about right.....i always supply the oil the garage uses when they change mine....i give em 5l and they always have a bit left over....probably .5l  ;D

Oh and regarding the coolant flush......not too sure as the thermostat will be shut  :-/

nope this is right - just under a can of oil for a four pot and just more than a 5litre can for a v6  :y

I think this can be done by unbolting the thermostat housing and hose in just make sure the bottom Hose to the rad is disconnected this is what I do.
