Can anyone tell me which models of Omega (2001 onwards) have cruise control as standard (if any) ?
Failing that, was it part of a specific option pack ?
Can it be retrofitted and at what cost, either by DIY or specialist ?
Finally, on the standard factory fitted version, how is it actuated i.e. button (on steering wheel ?) or stalk on steering column (dedicated to cruise or shared with other functions) ? Does a light come on on the dashboard when cruise is on ? I'm asking this last question because I've rung several garages to ask if their particular car has cruise, and then they (live on the phone) get into the car, start it up, and start playing with all the switches and stalks to see if any of them flash up a 'cruise' light. Needless to say, I haven't found one yet ...
Thanks in advance.

Hi dunno which versions. The control is two buttons on the end of the left hand stalk , no light on that I have seen .

You should have a read of this, it shows you exactly how to install cruise on a Facelift Omega
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1152953478
On Facelift models, Cruise Control was an optional extra on GLS & CD spec.
Not sure about MV6 on the facelift, think its optional extra.
CDX & Elite Models had cruise as standard.
Do you have a manual or Auto? - If a manual you may need a clutch switch.
All you need a Indicator stalk which has the extra cruise buttons, and get it enabled by a local Vx dealer, or you may have someone near you with Tech2.
Tech2 is the communication software used with Vauxhalls.
Get it enabled on the car, and thats it job done it should work.
I installed cruise on mine a few months ago, for £20 :) - It was a £400 factory fit option!

I'm looking for an automatic.
Just to confirm if I understand you correctly.
I can add cruise control to say a post 2001 2.2 CD auto, by replacing the indicatior stalk with one that has cruise buttons (from either a scrappy or new from a vauxhall dealer), and then all I have to do is go that a Vauxhall dealer and get it enabled ?
Without sounding too naive, will they do this, and how much will it cost ?
Thanks.

Yes that is correct.
The facelift Omega came out in 1999. You can always tell a facelift because it has the electric window buttons on the doors.
A Vauxhall dealer will do this, some are better than others. Some will stay you need this and that, tell us what area you based in and someone should be able to recommend a dealer.
Dealers charge around £40 + vat generally just to plug tech 2 in... so your looking around that figure.
Where exactly are you based? - One of the admins here called "TheBoy" has discounted prices for members here:

I'd go for a CDX or higher spec......as not only do you get cruise as standard but you also get HID headlamps.....a much better upgrade than the standard filament bulbs :y

Unfortunately, I'm based in the North West - Liverpool/Manchester area
I've haven't got a Vauxhall at the moment, but in a previous lifetime with a Cavalier SRi and then a Carlton 2.2 CDi auto, I learned not to be very impressed with my local Vauxhall dealers.
Can anyone recommend any good ones up North ?

To clarify the earlier posts...
Cruise can be retro fitted to any Omega, it makes no difference if facelift or prefacelift.
On 2.2, 2.6, 3.2 petrol models, a 4 wire cruise indicator stalk (Part 9181011 - £32) is required, and possibly clutch switch (£10 ish) if manual (some have them, some don't). The Engine ECU needs to be enabled - some dealers charge standard £45, some want a lot more. My charge is £35 for members with 50+ post rating here...
On 2.5TD BMW diesel, a 2 wire cruise stalk is required. Job done.
On 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 petrols, an ECU/Actuator, throttle cable, 4 wire cruise stalk (smae part as 2.2,2.6,3.2), a 4 pin brake switch and a clutch switch if manual. No Tech 2 required. Parts should be around £30 - £40 from breaker

Are the two cruise control switches at the end of the indicator stalk labelled 'S' and 'R' ?
-
The S & R buttons should be on the wiper stalk and are for the MID/TID. The cruise buttons are on the indicator stalk and should be labelled + - and 0 I think they are only two switches the + & - is like a rocker switch and is the top one.

Cruise switch consists of 3 buttons on end of indicator stalk, labelled I, R, 0
