Title: drop link problem

Hi can any body help me, i replaced both front drop links twice! within a year. The recent ones only lasting 4 months and its always the drivers side that plays up first, they were non genuine parts, i only do about 6000 miles a year, should i try vx genuine parts? my car has had new wishbones,shocks,lowering springs (40mm drop) 12 months ago. on ebay many people suggest that this is a common problem with omegas surely they should last longer than 4 months!! any help most gratefull thanx lj707

I find they last for 100K miles+ so hardly a common failure.

I alo go for at least the FAI ones (vaux are very pricey) as they are (were) OEM.

What are the symptoms leading you to change the drop links?

As Mark says they should last a very long time.... and FAI are excellent (well in my experience they are), especially for the price (approx £11 each).

As the others have mentioned FAI droplinks these are what I fitted to mine, been fine ever since.

Here is the ebay seller I used when I got mine.

I think we have sorted this problem.

Lee has lowered his car and changed the suspension.
While he has had the tracking reset, the forces acting on the suspension components will now be completely different and thus the droplinks are failing much quicker.

A call to Tony at STS seems to have provided the answers. :)

If you lower should you slack and retighten the wishbones and droplinks at the new ride height?
