Hey folks,
I have a 1994 vauxhall omega and i have tried removing the wiper arms, i have taken off the bolts but they still seem to be stuck right on there, do they just need some gentle persuasion or is there another way to take them off, thanks.

They do stick a bit sometimes.
There is a proper tool, but If you push down on arm about 4" from bolt (where it hinges), it can help free it....

Hi,i usually remove the nuts then lift the blades away the screen then give the whole arm a gentle rock to and fro...hope this helps...wayne

The above method always works for me as well. Give it a go !

I was just going to ask the same.

Another understatement! - must be this cooler weather!
Mine are under 'plus gas' treatment right now.

TheBoy, what does the tool look like (tried a 17mm spanner but that isn't going to do it ...) Judging but the corrosion behind the nuts mine haven't been off this century and are in need of some appropriate "persuasion".

A ball joint spiltter (not a wedge type) or the following style puller work very well.

Thanks Mark. I can see a shopping trip coming up.
- any sign of some paint?
- and a bottle? (driving round with the daft warning on and precious little for the forthcoming bad weather.

Paint I have.....bottle I am struggling to source.....machine mart have a VAT free night in Nottingham on Wednesday

Sorry andyjstew I think this is hijacking your thread a bit.
Thanks Mark, might collect the paint before the other - what chances do you think of a plastic gunge repair. Tried the local halfrauds today but no small pullers like that, nor an E18 socket to complete the basic kit (is this needed). Suppose for the £2 off on vat I could try Wednesday - is that a late evening then.

Mark: Yes please grab me one of those small spliters if you think it'll do the job (must confess, not tried them since the plusgas from the weekend). Do you think the plastic glue will work? (worth taking it off for - just replace it)
Perhaps I can call over the weekend.
Supermop: No please don't let him near my motor again (no offence MB).
andyjetew: Shame you are not local - you could encourage mine!

If you just need to remove them then we can sort that and put a dab of grease on to stop them seizing again.....
-
Sounds good - just rip 'em off. If it's raining, stick them back on with grease. Save a trip into town.
Are you about at the w/end?
