Title: Rear exhaust box
Post by: frenchpolisher on 13 November 2006, 12:40:41
Morning all, I need to replace the rear box and both middle boxes on my 2.6 V6 (2001). Are they only available from Vauxhall or does anyone know where I can get them? My local exhaust centre only has listing for the 2.5 V6. Would appreciate some help as I really dont want to have to go to the Bandits!!

While Vx are, as you put it, bandits in some respects, there are times when Vx is best.
Exhausts from Vx are much better than your average "Kwik-fit" rubbish and, whilst they are more expensive, they are worth the extra money ;)

On the 2.5/2.6/3.0/3.2 the centre sections are the same.

The back box is the same on 2.5/2.6 as of manufacturing year 2000....

I've fitted Vx parts to mine and can confirm it is as good as new.  Two tips for you

1. make sure you get new centre box to cat bolts - you need 2 for each pipe.  Also when removing the old ones - soak in freeing oil for ages and go very carefully.  They can shear off in the cats.

2. make sure you get a handful of clips that retain the rubber hangers.  you'll surely need a few when you take the old ones off.

Vx dealer may need to order the zorst as they may not carry stock

You may need heat to remove the centre box to cat bolts to avoid risking sheering tem

Can you get trade club discount?

Its worth grinding the trhead that protrudes through the back of the cat flange off.....makes the bolt removal a LOT easier.
