Title: Power steering hard work.
Post by: Big Rod on 16 December 2006, 19:28:34
SWMBO's Elite's steering appears to be becoming harder to steer. I'm used to my MV6 being able to basically 'whirl' the steering wheel round using little more than my pinkie, but the Elite's very hard work even when moving.

There is a bit of a slow puncture in one of the front tyres but that gets topped up frequently.

Any suggestions?

I would check the easy ones first.

The fuse (also on the same circuit as electric seats as I recall)

Aux belt tension.

Power steering fluid level/condition.

After that it is a case of the PAS pump or the assistance solenoid (tech II required to confirm).

Yeah, kind'a figured that'd be the case!!

It's due a service, so I'll get them to replace the fluid first to see if that'll help.

Cheers Dave!!

My Power steering is heavy....well i think it is.....TB says not adjustable on a 2.2 with tech2....i assume bigger engines are adjustable with tech2....maybe worth seeing if it can be made 'lighter' with a tech2? :-/
