Changed the camshaft gaskets at the weekend - started the car up and the yellow/orange light came on and stays on, the engine is a bit sluggish on start up but runs well. I'm sure that i replaced all the sensor plugs on their original bits The light stays onnnnnnnnnn. This morning the fuel tank is showing zero even though tank is full. Is this the beginning of the end or the end of the beginning i ask myself? Will i be causing any damage by running the engine? Can anyone help???

I understand it's a V6... check all sensors connections especially the cam sensor. Also keep in mind that an error light might stay on after the original issue that caused it has been resolved - in this case it will go away after a few ignition-off/on or in some cases (e.g. airbag) it will need to be reset with Tech2. If you have a code reader, try finding out what the actual error code is. If you don’t have one and your car is pre-facelift you can try using the paper clip method – search in this forum for it. If all else looks well, I would try starting the car. Not sure about the fuel gauge though...

What engine is it - if 2.0, 2.5 or 3.0 do paperclip test
My suspicion (assuming its a v6) is that you have a problem with knock sensor 2, due to wire being trapped near cam cover ;)

I assumed it’s a V6 because he said 'camshaft gaskets' in plural… ;D

Thanks guys, the engine is a 2.5v6 1997. Will recheck all the sensors especially the back one. If that doesn't solve the problem i'll do the paperclip test. The fuel gauge still baffles me though. Think i'll give the car a good shake in case the sensor in the fuel tank is stuck!!!!

Yep, read the codes and post back.....

Will do during Xmas break Mark. Shook the car last night - solved the fuel tank problem [ must have frightened it but more than likely a loose connection]. Happy Xmas to all.
