Ive noticed its all working fine, apart from its lying... The Range always hovers around 300-400 miles, now the orange light was on and I put a tenner in it, now am no expert but I dont think a 3.0 V6 will return 400 miles to a tenner! haha any idea whats wrong with it?

That the only issue?
MID's are a PIA, 2 sets of sensors replaced with paperclips on the wife's! (coolant and brake pads)
Has it ever been replaced? Maybe not set up to your car.
What is the car, and press and hold both buttons, you will get 3 sets of numbers, post the results and someone (well TheBoy) will confirm if a reconfig is needed.

The average speed is always on 9mph too.
Not long had the car so I dont know to be honest.
Its a pre-facelift Elite and il get those numbers later! Nice one.

Is there a formula or lookup chart for these?
May be useful to add one as a sticky to save people having to ask, and can then quickly check the MID matches the car.

a search will reveal the more common ones.... ;)
I may stick one in faq later.... ...though I need help to generate list. My last request was not that successful :(
-
It is documented (badly) in TIS....
(Badly in that it doesn't say what code versions the indexes apply to)

Hi TheBoy
How do you work those numbers out then mate?what do you mean about the 09 being high, what you said about the other digits is spot on, my omega is a 20 16v xev manual with 15" wheels it was registered may 1994 (L reg) the MID was from a 1995 omega same engine etc. Will the MID ever work accurately in my car???
Thanks

I've put up table for preminifacelifts in FAQ section now. 1998 cars is a little more complex, due to number of variations....

The 09 is software version. Last one I did on preminifacelift MID, I'm sure ver 04 was latest. Maybe its slightly different hardware, and runs different software, hence different software version numbers...

You can reset things like mpg and average speed by holding in one of the buttons with the display you want to reset showing, I think it's the top button. I don't think you can reset the range though but if after a reset of the average speed you get something sensible it might help.

Press and hold R to reset that function. You can get it to redetect range, but it will still give same reading....

Yeh it is... I checked it against them n it came up rite but whats wrong with it cos it still giving a false reading its now sitting on 200-250 on the range

Not sure what would happen if it was set for a Vectra etc - they shared code indexes on earlier models, but if for a different model?
It could be getting wrong signal from fuel gauge - Marks_DTM suggetsed checking the MID against instrument panel...
