my car 2.5v6 gls pre.facelift estate.
my problem screen misting up like buggery. as soon as i get in the back windows steam up then the windscreen. no evidence of wet floors at all or any leaks. screen clears (eventually) after heaters on full hot and full screen but i feel like a oven basted turkey at this time.
now i have standard heater controls, is there any control setting that i can a) keep the misty w/screen clear b) not sweat my bits off on a trip and c) not have to have the fan speed set on max speed for ages? would the intervention of recirculation switch/ aircon switch be of any help? and im not sure whether when both heaters are set fully cold theres any airflow up to the screen even with the direction know pointing that way.
ps when i turn the direction knob there is a hiss sound.

Theres a l..o..n..g thread on this somewhere. Not too long ago either.

cheers m8 will go hunting........

Hi,
Have you checked that your scuttle drains are clear? If they are blocked, this problem will result.
I am in the process of writing a how to guide - keep watching this area of the forum for the next ½ hour or so.
Hope this will help

I do remember Marks DTM saying..and this surprised me....that if you put too much junk in the right hand storage bin in the boot, it stops the air flowing freely through and out of the back of the car :-?
-
toneavenger - the guide is now present in this section. Take a look it may help. :y

Mine does this, annoying and dangerous! Goin to work the other week, and it decided it wanted 2 mist up, even the front, i had 2 pull over (without bein able 2 see a thing from any angle) and wait a while demistin it

is derek acorah a happy medium?

is derek acorah a happy medium?
i dont think so, he always looks pretty miserable to me (personally i think he hits the spirits too hard).

OK, as an experiment, since that long thread about it a few weeks ago, I have had the ECO switch on (A/C off) on my MV6. I am not suffering any significant misting - and when 4 adults got in in a week or so ago, all soaking wet, it clear quickly as expected (despite boot being absolutely full with xmas food shopping).
So, they is nothing wrong with Omega's ventilation system when it is working properly.
So:
Check scuttle drain is clear (see guide in Maintenence Guides).
Check boot bin (where CD player is on prefacelifts, and where first aid kit is stored) - this is the rear vents, and must be kept clear).
Try to remove damp air from car - a proper dehumidifier, or driving around with sunroof on tilt (or rear windows slightly open).
-

Really :-?

Yes, the rear vents are there...
-
that makes perfect sense, mine has been misting up and i couldn't find the reason for it.....
Will now empty all the junk out of that pocket :y

Can you hear the recirculation flat opening and closing when you press the resirculation button? I had the arm between the actuator and the flap fall off years ago. I can't remember if the flap was open or closed but I had to take the glove box out to find the problem.
If the hiss is a short one as you move the control it's normal but if it's continuous a vacuum pipe has fallen off somewhere.

right, both drain scuttles clear, no leaks, both rear "bin holds" clear but still having probs. having sunroof on tilt helps a lot so will keep plodding away, ill get there in the end..... cheers for help. :y

Assuming car is not letting in water anywhere, I suspect its just residual dampness in car that you need to remove... ...driving with as much airflow as possibly is one (slow) way... ...a proper dehumidifier is the quickest...

Pollen filter changed? Blowlamp taken to carpets and upholstery? Driven for six hours with windows and sunroof fully open?
If you're gonna do a job.......... ;D
-
pollen filter changed a month ago, i will have to give it a couple of hours with a elecy heater in it then a good trip (weather permitting) with all the windows etc open, ive gotta solve this problem cos its becoming a major headache.
-
I started to have this problem, ran it for a week on ECO, problem disappeared, back on air con again.
-
I NEVER drive on anything other than ECO in the winter. I know that people say turn the air con on once a week to keep it lubed but I do that when sitting in my drive, and not for long. I'm pretty sure I read in the manual it says something like "only use air con when warm outside".
Will go and have a look.
EDIT: No, must have dreamt it. But, dont know if air con is different from CC.

what is the difference between climate control and air conditioning?
which is best?
what tips and tricks are recommened for longivety of the afore mentioned....any hints like don't have it on full blast while the car is stationery or not warmed up etc
how badly does it affect fuel consumption?

Climate is the digital type, set the temp, and it sorts itself out. All climate systems have A/C.
A/C is generally meant to be the traditional heater systems.
All facelifts have climate, as do prefacelift CDX and Elites from around 1996
-

You've bought a 3.0 omega Paul. Forget about fuel consumption ;D
-
about 1mpg in my tests...
-
i notice very little difference fuel consumption when the A/C is on or Eco, at the best it equates to a mile or so per gallon.
mines a 2.5 but i cant see the loss on a 3.0 being that great..

Running with a/c swictched on during demisting should help because a/c system naturally dehumidifies the air.
Pretty much all modern cars with a/c automatically cut the a/c in when switched to demist anyway.
Try initailly not wanging the temp over to hot straight away but try cool or midway first and see if this helps.
Climate control does what it says on the tin controls climate temp and humidity in car automatically.
a/c will just cool the air with some control over humidity controlled manually by the temp control :y
