where or what can i buy !, to reset the air bag warning light ?.
My 98 elite 3 ltr auto saloon, with satnav and climate control had a flat battery and when i tried to start it, "before" fully charging the battery it put the airbag light on.
Ive enquired before to try and purchasse something to reset it without going to the dealers but to no avail.
Sureley their must be something , if the dealers can reset it why is their no after market product .
or can someone surprise me , now that ive found this excellent web site.
Looking forward to some response,
regards jud

Who ever told you tech2 won't reset the airbag light is talking bull, tech2 is used on all vauxhalls from Corsa's to Omega's. It's used to diagnose and alter ANYTHING on the cars ECU. Tech2 will reset the light, a dealer should be able to do it for you, but at silly prices (usually around £40 just to plug it in)
-
ok thanks very much for the info, yes i must have been missinformed, thanks again.
Do you reckon the Item number: 160049536957 on ebay at £24-00 will do the job .
Or does ANYBODY know of something better or cheaper.
Thanks in advance
-
Thats what I use....
-
Yes the cheapo tech2 should be able to reset airbag light (I borrowed one, and it could reset light, but struggled to read why light was on for me). Supplied software very buggy, and often in Hungarian. Needs a computer with a real COM1 (troublesome with usb to serial adapters, and despite what software implies, it must be com1).
Note, this item is not the same thing as a real Tech2 as used by Vauxhall dealers - that cost several thousand...
-
thanks i do understand that there are proper tools at £1300 and upwards that does everything but i am looking to buy one of the cheaper version's and yes i will use com 1 .
Thanks mates
all the very best to you all for the new year

For the money, the cheapo Tech2 is worthwhile (as you have a PC with proper COM1), though code reading and light resetting is about its limit. As I said in earlier post, the software can be frustrating at times...

Hi Thanks for the speedy reply :y
If the tool mentioned above, ebay item code 160049536957 can do it is the software provided with it or can it be purchased elsewhere?
Sorry for all the questions!
Thanks again
Karl

No, again the cheapo tech 2 one will on both of those....the software is not great but, if you reset the airbag light it will have paid for it self

1996 Veccy may be borderline.... ...don't know the SRS system fitted to confirm.
-
Thanks for your very speedy replys, think I will bite the bullet and try one. I'm not to fused about the vectra at the moment, but if it will do the omega then I will be very happy ;D

Cheers Karl

Host photo elsewhere (recommend the free www.photobucket.com) and post link...
-
Thanks for that! ( Im A bit illieterate when it comes to PCs) the photo is below. The arrow points to the offending pipe with the hole in it. Looking at it, it appears that the pulley has worn the hole into.
I apologise for the photo quality as I just went out and took it :). rather than try and explain as i wouldn't do a very good job!

Has anybody had to take this pipe out before as it appears to be a bit of a sod. :(
Cheers karl
-
As a temporary measure you could bend the pipes straight (they are bent, has it had a front impact?) clean the pipe wela dn wrap with self amalgimating tape. Then fit a jubilee clip with the flat section over the hole area nice and tight.
You need to repalce the entire pump and cooling loop pipe, that requires removal of the bumper and bracket assembly. On the drivers side chassis rail there are two connetions, one is a jubilee style (low pressure fluid return) and the other is a high pressure banjo joint which needs disconnecting. Take the inlet tubing out and the radiator and then you might be able to wriggle it all out...if not then you need to remove the aircon condenser which has very high pressure gas in it.....this is where it gets difficult!
-
Thanks for that info Marks Dtm. the car does not appear to have had a front impact, it is an ex-plod vehicle so may have? I do not know. I have already with the help of my old man managed to strip the multiram out during the terrible weather we have been getting, I thought i may have to remove the bumper :( . I have managed to source the pipes from the local scrap yard, i am just waiting for him to strip the engine out of the meega he has in 2.5 V6. He said he would keep the power steering pipes for me! ;D
Many thanks for your help. Much Appreciated :y

My friend has a Veccy SRI & swears by (not at) the Vx garage in Carnforth, Wharton Hall - he drives from Barrow as he doesn't trust them or Kendal - http://www.findvauxhall.co.uk/detail.php?id=88. HTH

If your ever down the South Nottingham area then I would be happy to reset it for you....
Bumper removal is easy by the way

how come this topic as ended up with someone else's problem of power steering and not the air bag resetting light as it originally started.
I would have thought it only polite to start a new subject.
The reason i say this is i keep getting emails saying someone has responded to my question , only to find its regarding the power steering and not the airbag light.

Hi jud1255
I am afraid it is my fault for hijacking your thread about the light resetting sorry about that :-X, I too have the light standing on my dash. it just so happend that I said I have a power steering fault that I need to repair first and the kind and helpful People on the this forum offered their advice and knowledge.(Which is surely what the spirit of these forums is about?)
If this has caused you offence then i will gladly not come back here.
Many thanks to the people that have shared their knowledge.

Don't be daft! :y You're more than welcome to ask any question you like. Topics do often digress from the original topic - as verbal conversations do - but that's how the cookie crumbles. If we were to change topics every time there was a slight deviation of thread we'd have that many topics going I'm sure it'd be too hard follow any topic.
-
no mate feel free to stay here i just thought that somebody may have appreciated that i had started this topic regards the airbag, and maybe should have opened a new subject, but if thats how it goes ill give my apologies as i am New to this.
Ah well what can i say besides sorry if i offended you and others
ill heat my hat
cheers jud

Many Many Thanks Karl

It's the Opel Autoscanner did start a thread - could'nt find it now ???
Is it working now - last I heard there was a licence problem?
-
Yep got that sorted.
Built in the software is some 'blackbox' software that makes a log files
which shows why the program has a problem
I sent the log file to the guy he has looked at the files shows its the USB to serial giving me trouble
Quote "We can not guarantee proper work with such adapters, since our interface requires continuous asynchronous data exchange, which USB-COM adapters are not able to provide 100%"
It work for a while then hangs.
Will try a find the other thread again.

Many USB - Serial adapters are poor, esp newer ones. My one seems good, is badged Prolithic, but is about 3yrs old now.
-
Prolific that what I have - does not like it.
Updated other thread did'nt mean to hijack this thread AGAIN

I think the cheapo tech2 (£40 ish from ebay) is still cheapest option. Unless you live near someone who has one....
-

Or does anybody now of one better or cheaper as im afraid nobody in my area come up with out
