Title: It was My Oil Pump
Post by: Craig_R on 08 January 2007, 09:28:41
Got my Car back yesterday after having a new Oil Pump intalled.

With all the diffeent Gaskets oil filter and other bits and bobs like a new sump plug i had to fork out £500 quid

I nearly died when i was told.

Well its running really well apart from the Steering seems alot lighter if thats the right word its earier to turn the steering wheel finger tip light i would say.

Oh and i need a new Header Tank Cap as the Seal inside has gone

WONDER IF ANY ONE HAS A SPARE KICKING ABOUT ?

Can't help with either the cap or the steering wheel query, and I am sorry that you had to fork-out another £500, but - I am happy that you got it sorted properly and hopefully you will finally be able to enjoy the Omega - and a fine car it is indeed!

Someone will come along soon I'm sure with some helpful ideas.

The yellow cap? If so, the only one I have spare also has a naff seal - it came off Project TB1, and failed due to oil in coolant. The replacement cap for Proj TB1 I 'acquired' from a scrappy.

Glad you got the engine sorted :), though shocked it was £500  >:(

It's the labour really where you got stung, the rest is all reasonably priced, apart from the pump seeming dear (but I don't know what they go for)

ECOTEC engines are on eBay for as little as £100 and are not a total nightmare to fit

apart from when electrics don't work ;D
