Hiya Guys and Gals,
Just got my hands on a Elite 3.0v6 Mreg. Basically to keep down the miles on trev.
What a car. Its so comfortable!... Now then here’s the problem. There is no instruction manual. Most buttons seem fairly explanatory but cant work out the following.
1)Left indicator stick has some buttons on it and can’t work out what they do??
2)The auto stick has a frost simple button next to it... Is that something to do with a/c or if there’s ice on the road???
Also if there are any other weird or wonderful buttons that you think I’ll miss or aren’t so straight forward could these be explained.
So many buttons I think I’m gona be finding new gadgets for the next few months
Thanks in advance.

Buttons on the left stalk are for cruise control the snowflake button locks the autobox up in third gear to aid traction when setting of on slippery surfaces
-
Hi!
Left stalk buttins are probably cruise, the 'snowflake' symbol by the shift is for starting off in 3rd (in snow or ice!). You will get plenty of help here :)
-
Just thinking if you can get hold of an owners manuel it would be useful especially for the climate and ventilation system the operation of which is quite complex :y

M reg won't have climate ;)

How does the cruise control work?
The raised part towards the dash sets the cruise limit. Tap it to increase speed 1 mph at a time. To decrease speed tap the recessed part nearer to you. The bottom part - wide with lines - knocks it off.
Hit the depressed button when you're ready and car will race back to preset speed. Pressing the brake will also knock it off. If you slow down and wan't to set a lower speed just press the raised button again.
Raised button = set/add speed. Depressed button = resume/lose speed. Bottom button = cancel.

How does the cruise control work?
I to set (and to increase speed by 1.2mph once set)
R to resume last set speed (and to reduce speed by 1.2mph)
0 to cancel (as does brake and clutch).

I think I have a pre-facelift manual. If so, I will scan it in and put a link on here over the next day or so.

Hi Snapz
pm me with an address as i have the manual on disk & its yours if you want it :y

If you're using the cruise control and want overtake someone, accelerate and then let your foot off the pedal when you want to go back to cruising speed. The cruise control will take over automatically and carry on at the speed it was previously set to.

Don't use cruise in Belgium, it is illegal. How the police know you are using it is beyond me. Great tool for alert, competent drivers.
The EU has agreed cross border assistance on miscreant drivers.
France will so exactly what they want (as usual).
Spain will be aware of it but as usual not give a damn.
Germany will be too busy with immigrants.
Britain will employ an army of people to stomp on all miscreants(abroad or at home, foreigners or Brits)
good luck, olive

They have no way of telling, anyway seems like a good reason to bypass Belgium.

No it's not! Another case of Chinese Whispers.
Cruise control has been banned on Belgian motorways at times of congestion in a bid to cut accidents. It's obviouse to most normal drivers that cruise is virtually impossible to use on any kind of busy road anyway.

Ok then I tried using the cruise control as suggested previously and nothing happened???
Tried pushing the raised button to increase speed nothing
Tried pushing the indent button nothing
Tried pushing the button below nothing...
I had my foot off both pedals while fiddling with them so that wouldn’t be interfering
Any Ideas?

Can you check that you have 2 throttle cables, and report back...

I can.... but how do I check?
-
Locate the throttle body - the bit where both big rubber pipes go into. On left should be a throttle cable. There should be 2 if you have cruise...
-
i'll have a go in the light tomorrow.

Hi Snapz.
The engine end of the throttle cables should look like this if thers cruise fitted, but the circular clip should be snapped in place.

Yes it has two cables.

Yes it has two cables.
At what speed did you try to activate the cruise control? It will only work above 24mph.
-
Yes it has two cables.
OK, follow one of the cables back to the actuator (other cable goes through bulkhead into cabin). When you have found actuator, follow the electrical cable up to connector - is it plugged in?
Check brake switch is a 4 pin one, not 2 pin.
If auto, check clutch switch is still there.
Failing that, check the stalk - it should be the 4 wire version, not the 2 wire one from 2.5TD
-
will do

How do I do the above?
-
To do the pedal switches, you need to get under there, remove the card cover, and it should be apparent.
The stalk, remove the upper couling (ignore haynes, the wheel does NOT need to come off!) and remove stalk, and check the little flylead...

I didn't realise just how hard it was to get hold of the handbooks , I'm ashamed, I've seen an ample supply lying around in scrap yards... Maybe some scrap yards actually remove and sell these books, if not, they should, we'd all be happy to purchase them for a reasonable cost.... I've got mine, they came with Net Q with my Omega, I wouldn't have left without them, BUT Vx at Luton may also have ex-stock.. drop them an e-mail. They sent me their last brochure for the 1999 Elite !!!! They're not all that bad !!!
