How Do Everyone,
Just picked up my 3rd Omega ( 2.2 Auto CD ) yesterday. Well pleased with it.
However, the key is all doshed in where you press to open/close etc.
How does one go about obtaining a new key? Thats presuming you can.
How much are we looking at?
Cheers

Hi and welcome Andy. :)
This is quite easy. What you need is something like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vauxhall-Omega-Vectra-Astra-Remote-Key-Fob-3-Button_W0QQitemZ230083718457QQihZ013QQcategoryZ10404QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
(depending on whether you have 2 or 3 button model).
Just use that as a donor. The main body comes apart from the key.You just need the casing.
Open the main body (carefully). Swap over casing and you are done. :)

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated.
Is there another way other than ebay? Any independant dealer services
or web sites??

Why :question I would think only other source for new fobs would be Vx

A replacement fob would mean programming to car via Tech2. So, not only do you have fob costs, but Tech2 charges, and buying a carpass if you do not own one...
-
Last time I checked at Vx, they will now only supply the modern type which has the flip-out key blade. So supply and coding of that works out to about £100, as opposed to a replacement casing which would probably cost £10-15 tops ...

Nip to your local scrappy, show them your key, explain that you only need the casing, a few beers me thinks!
That's what I did !

When I got my spare key from VX (some time ago now), it was around £80 (programmed and ready to go) which was made up from ~£35 for the fob and ~£45 for the key itself. The new 'integrated' fob is still actually separate to the key - it simply slides onto it... so at the time they could be bought separately even if it was the 'new' type.

I used North West Key services in Liverpool.
Supplied a new three button fob and programed it to my car took about 10 minutes
Cost £45. Needed the "carpass" for programming
Must be something similar were you are try Yellow Pages for auto locksmiths

Thanks for all the replies.
I think I shall try the scrap yards first.
