Title: Central locking dead
Post by: r.welfare on 28 January 2007, 17:29:28
OK folks, one fault fixed (MID), another one to go...

'95 Elite estate - central locking doesn't work.  Battery in the remote is dead, but doesn't work off the door either.  Fuse 20 is OK.  Car had battery removed when in storage and c/l worked fine before that.  When opening tailgate with key, can hear motor working to release that lock, but no noises from doors.

Simple fault do you think?

Quite possibly after new battery fitted it might just need resyncing......try ign on an pressing the lock button.....i think the doors should then lock and unlock.

I assume the key unlocks the drivers door?

Not sure what is suppose to happen when using the key to unlock the tailgate....open the tailgate or all the doors  :-/

Cheers, I'll give that a try.  Key opens the driver's door fine, and opens the tailgate fine also, just no C/L at the moment!

Nope - tried ignition on and locking driver's door from inside - nothing.  Will strip the doorcard at some point and see if anything has fallen off  :-?

On the estate unlocking the tailgate with the key does just that. It has no effect on the door locks. My problem is slightly different in that it locks fine on key or remote but won't deadlock or set alarm on either key or remote (mostly - it does occasionally work). Any ideas would be welcome.

Is it an Ir remote setup (small black half moon on the sunroof fascia) or a radio type.

If Ir then check fuses F15 and F20 (also F12 which powers the IR receiver)

If radio check fuse F12
