Title: auto box fault

got another niggeling little fault for you all  :)

under heavy acceleration in normal or sports mode my box kicks down,then locks in gear,auto box ewarning on mid,check light illuminated.

pull over , stop engine,restart will be ok again.

dont happen all the time. and fine under more sedate driving.

I think it might be worth getting the gearbox ecu read to see what its complaining about.

Others on here, say a gearbox oil/filter change can sort a lot of probs out.....so that would be worth a go as well  :y

I fluid/filter change on box cures a lot of silly issues with it, and certainly won't do any harm.

Further diagnostics will need the g/box codes reading, but will probably be in the realms of a specialist anyway.

This sounds similar to the issues that I'm having, although mine does it after the box gets hot, i.e. sitting in traffic or driving it hard.

I've had the fluid and filter changed but it didn't make any difference. Also, a specialist couldn't find any fault codes stored in the ECU.

It's been suggested that it could be the valve block in the gearbox, but this sounds expensive so I've just learned to put up with it. I knew I should've bought a manual.

wanted a manual, but , apart from ex police million milers. couldnt find a nice one for the money i had :)
