I see xenon lights - do these have the washers aka HIDs too?

I'm after a washer bottle see; for 2.5 elite pre- with HIDs (& washers).

I could be interested in the exhaust depending on condition and price (inc post - too far to collect). How much for the grille too?

Hi mate, not sure - I'm trying to get an understanding of how much I could strip the car down for... If it all goes to plan?!?

My poor car  :-[

If the front wishbones are new and original VX I'd be interested in them too. Mine are less than a year old but still have the pulling under heavy braking (posted in another recent thread) and Mark suggests something is wrong with a wishbone so it might be worth a shot. At least it'd eliminate another possibility if nothing else.

You forgot about the leather interior, that'll be worth a few quid. I'd have been interested if the front seats were sports, but alas I prefer cloth sports seats to leather couches ;)

Good luck... maybe all this will be in vain and you'll get the car back in one piece ;D

Where in the country are you? If you're not too far from north Manchester I'd be interested in the front bumper & near side inner wheel arch liner if when you say it's black you mean the grey/black metalic rather than the solid black. (and both head light washers if I've not already been beaten to 'em and maybe the driver's door if it's better than mine)

Excellent, thanks Dave

Seems that Omega's are worth more in spares....?

Thanks to everyone for their help, will post up with the results on the engineers inspection, til then, have a good Xmas

Yep, no doubt they're worth more in spares as they get older or have problems. You often see Elites with engine problems going for a few hundred quid on fleabay, sell the interior and wheels alone and you've covered the cost of the car, with loads of other desirable bits left over to profit on. I'd probably have bought at least one to strip by now if it weren't for the lack of space and time, and also that most of them are too far away.

Any update on the claim?

One other thing - the rear view mirror if it's electrochromatic. I'd be interested in this, not for my Omega (which already has one) but to try using the control unit for my BMW's mirror which I managed to goose while trying one of my "experiments" lol. Buying a BMW replacement is megabucks cos it's got the alarm remote receiver stuff in there too. Does anyone know if the glass from one electrochromatic mirror is likely to work with the electronics from another? I'm hoping it's some sort of PWM setup.

If I can upgrade my CD to SatNav - I'll have maybe have a go.

Bad luck though - was the milk float speeding or was the driver asleep when he hit you? :(

Nightmare! Thankfully I've never had to claim, some really close calls though!

One more thing to add to your list (that I might be interested in if it's black ;) ): Rear parcel shelf with blind.

Hopefully you get it sorted though and a strip down won't be necessary 8-)

Hey all.... Car inspected today and its a Cat D. Have opted to buy the car back for 20% so if the insurers agree this, all will be good...

I need the rear passenger wing cluster with the grey bit that bolts on the wing and bulb holders, have posted this in the Wanted section so if you have anything laying around....  ;)

Good news at last.  But did you ever find out how much it will cost to repair & how difficult ?
Title: Re: Please help price the stripdown of my Omega
Post by: sophos9 on 11 January 2007, 22:26:40
nope... will start asking around the local body shops. After speaking to a few people should be fine to have the panel knocked out, repaired then smoothed over with some filler. You may notice it a tiny bit but I will keep the car and run it until it dies as finger crossed, I may be getting a motorbike  :y

Good luck with it mate, I'd advise getting a good idea of any bodywork costs before starting as they can very quickly rocket up. If you've got the skills and the gear to do it yourself though you may be on to a winner.

I take it you won't be stripping it then :D 8-)

Cheers mate!

I'm not fussed with it being pristine as it will be used as a run around when I get bike. Unless I get some silly quotes for the repair, I'm afraid I wont be stripping...

Glad to hear it, as much as I'd have taken a few bits it looks much too good to strip, good luck with the repairs and keep us updated with progress. I think if you can at least do some of the work yourself like filling and prep (painting is best left to pros IMO) it'll bring the cost down a lot.

Will need someone to beat the panel out and weld up that split as a rear light is not gonna go back in place cus that area is phunked!

Once all that stuff is done I got no problem filling and prepin then over to some pro to spray her up...

Appreciate the good luck!
