Hi
Was wondering about buying one of these from eBay to throw in my 97 3.0 Elite. I can see that the display in the dash has a phone icon
Is it as easy as buying one and dropping it in or is there other work...?

Hopefully someone can confirm, but though the ccrt and gid have to be coded together...? (In which case, they need to be properly depaired from their original partners). The ccrt7000 isn't that good tbh, single band 900Mhz, so o2/voda only...

if you're thinking of this (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&sspagename=ADME%3AL%3ARTQ%3AUK%3A1&viewitem=&item=200078444407&rd=1), the seller hasn't got a clue what he's selling and is rude too, don't fancy your chances if you do have problems with it!
If it's to replace an existing, identical head unit then yes - it should be OK. Otherwise you need the amp etc. which the seller doesn't have listed, it's probably been left behind in the car the radio was removed from - does yours have the bose setup or is it philips, as I seem to remember that the philips setup uses speaker level inputs to the amp instead of the line level outputs of the bose, Marks_DTM_Calib may be able to confirm?
I believe the coding of display and head unit only applies to facelift models.

and ..... the CCRT700 uses a different display GID instead of MID or TID that has the phone reception mast & text icons (there are other but I can't think what they are :-/ )

Hi, do you have the stubby aerial on the rear of the roof, this is for the telephone. I think it has a different plug to normal as it includes the input for the phone and microphone, this is situated in the interior light fitting. I have one of these units Laiback kindly removed for me the other weekend, while he was fitting my new headunit. If you are willing to pay the postage both ways I would gladly send it to you so you can have a play round with it, I will of course, include the manual.

Radio loom - the CCRT700 connector is different from the others
GID loom - as above and you'd need the microphone
As has been said the phone is alright if it's already fitted & working (I do use mine) but with the advances in mobile phones since the CCRT700 was being fitted you'd really be better off fitting a decent hands free kit for your existing mobile .... and you'll not need another mobile phone number either.
