Has anybody here ever changed the mounting bushes at the front of the rear subframe ?
Looks like my subframe occasionally moves far enough to touch the right hand silencer, about 1/2 inch forward.
Thanks

yep easy job mate!!!
undo big bolt in middle undo 3 outer bolts use claw hammer edge to drag out the old bush and reverse mounting plate to push new one in do it right and half an hour each side no worries,

Thanks Tunnie, interesting...... I'll have to have a scout round, see what I can find.
I used to work for Tom Walkinshaw, he's still involved with HSV, maybe I'll see if his guys can sort anything for me.

I'd be interested in part numbers and prices.
Anyone know much much genuine parts are?
Omegatoy, when you did yours did you simply remove the central bolt and 3 outer bolts then use the hammer or did you lower the subframe, exhaust etc.?
How did you jack the car, support the sub-frame etc?
I suspect one of my bushes is on the way out. I don't have a puller or a way of pushing the bush back in so I was considering taking it to a garage. If the bushes come out easily then I'd rather do it myself.

diy is easy mate, bit difficult to explain but once you have undone the bolts and removed the carrier plate you use a claw hammer in the three slots around the edge of the old bush these are metal so you can safely give it a good heave, I just jacked up the rear but if you have never done it before put the whole car up on axle stands and ramps so you can see exactly what your doing, you only need to lower the arm slightly to get the top hat bush piece ,(extra bit on top) outn and th enew one in you will see what i mean when you do it, if you cant get the new bush to seat fully home then you just revesrs the 3 bolt plate so its upside down and then bolt up the centre bolt this will push the bush fully home!!
should have done a piccy job really but i have done sos many its second nature!!!
