New wishbones fitted 3 weeks ago and tracking reset by local garage.
Metallic clunk noted afterwards when hitting/exiting speed bumps or potholes from front wheels - local mechanic thinks track rod ends have excess play and tracking will be miles out.
Back to tracking station and all green within tolerances and the guy shakes the TRE from underneath, declaring they are ok but he's need to look further - book it in etc.
Out comes the trolley jack when I get home and 12/6 o'clock position - no play - but 9/3 o'clock - oo er missus - they wobble about so much I had to check the wheel nuts were tight. Both sides.
So - Is it track rod ends? I get no wheel wobble, drives straight but knocks on bumps, and if so where do you suggest I source a set of new ones?

When you do the test can you see where the play is.....if track rod end is faulty the movement will be in the track rod ball joint....
Could be idler arm so watch out for vetical movement in that also....

Also, try having an assistant apply the brake while you check for play again - if the play goes away, it's the wheel bearing, if the play is still evident, it's a suspension componnent.

I'll have a look for both. No verticle movement at the mo and no noise from bearings - I think over zealous mechanic and his sammy slege has loosened something when fitting the wishbones.

clunking over bumps? my first guess would be drop links ...
