with refrence to the boys comments and by the state of my knuckles..'the clips are very good. They are extremely quick during build, and apply a consistent, even clamping pressure... '
But without right tools, a right barsteward...
I have seen a set of mini molegrips approx 4 inches long, same as regular size molegrips but just smaller, now does anyone know were to get these from??? cant for the life of me remember were i have seen them, any one got any ideas??? i got a feeling there were/are american made???
clip solution hopefully... :y

Vice grip the make is. You can get them off Snap-On or you can get the proper tool.
-
I use mole grips, you can get hold of them and then wind the adjustment screw in to open them out further....
-
Some of mine have been replaced by Jubilee clips
-
As a matter of interest, what is the right tool for the job?
-
hose clip pliers - like here (http://www.lasertools.co.uk/item.aspx?item=756&cat=67) - available from Halfrauds amongst other places ...

If you look at http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1162397695
there's a picture of the one's I use.
Machine Mart used to sell a pair, can't find them on their web site, but they're in the Autumn/Winter Cat.

Prefer Andrex myself :-[
-
Nope - I use Screwfix for that - better quality of page..
-
Nah, too shiny, just like that old 'Izal' paper - remember it? also used as tracing paper!
Took the unusal cleaning method of smearing everything around until you could no longer see it, rather than actual cleaning
great stuff!

Just got the latest catalogue, seems to have been withdrawn.
I think Sealy sell them, don't know about Draper.
-
Better buy some Andrex then!

Where do you get them for 3.99? Cromwell have them at £6.78.
Either way if they do the job on those clips its got to be worth it.
-
OK, I'm an arse, it's a 2005 catalogue that I have..

Sorry :-[

hi there, I read your post last night walking round the pound shop guess what I come across ?!?!? a set of hose clip pliers with 4 diffrent heads, thinking I read that last night, may need them one day ! so a pound well spent,
In case anyone wants to know, it was a poundland (blue shop) I know there's one in st helens (where I was) and one in warrington if anyone lives close by them

Can I second the idea of using Vise Grips to get the clips off. (http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t155/lapbits/Visegrips.jpg) They made the job very easy, as you can leave them clipped on while getting the clip of the spigot.
-
Mole grips are fine but sometimes too big to get into those awkward places. I'm trying to replace my HBV just now and after 2 hours of cursing and gashed knuckles, made the trip to Halfrauds and paid the £14 >:( for the right tool - makes life a lot easier -except now its raining and too dark to finish the job.
Time for a beer then.

Several different types here (Clic, Ear, Earless, Norma....). Can anyone advise which are suitable for the GM type clips please?
Locking facility would be desirable.

Sealey VS166 - Hose Clamp Pliers Norma Type should be fine.
