Title: Headlights - European adjustment
Post by: JayUK on 26 February 2007, 17:11:47
Hi all,
I'm taking a trip over to Germany this coming weekend and having looked at the info in the manual thought it would be a piece of cake to do the adjustments.

Take the cover off - easy peasy!
Take the headlight cap off - You're joking. My car is full of engine & battery & other bits that means I can't get normal sized hands in there
Adjust the leve up or down - Not got that far yet

Now am I being thick (likely) or do the Xenon lights not need adjutsting for Europe? (hopefully)

There's no way I'll be able "pop the headlight cap off" as I don't see enough room. Never mind being able to see and adjust any lever!

Over to you, oh knowledgeable ones!  :y

Its easy enough....I have big hands and can do it....

Remember, the lever is behind the cap that sits on the full beam bulb....

Yes, they do need setting (presuming they are not already set that way, in which case you need to adjust back to uk on your return).

Presumably you have removed the plastic covers with the push and turn clips?  It is tight, but not impossible...

Having just had a quick look this afternoon, I've removed the headlight cover with a coin, to get access to the lights.

Then I've got the HID unit (I guess) and the light cap which I need to get to.

I'll have another go and try to get acces to the cap on the full beam part.

On the passenger side it looked like the batter was well in the way so I'll get that out the way and see

Thanks guys, I'll report later!

I love this place - even though it does seem to keep proving I'm an idiot.

Got it all sorted now, found the levers that I need to move and kinda figure out which way they need to be.

Thanks guys  8-)

Left Hand side - Lever up for u.k.
Right Hand side - Lever down for u.k.

Opposite positions for over the water. :y

is that left as you look at the car from infront of it , (driver side) or left as if you were in the car (Passenger side)

this always bugs me so I'd just like someone to tell me :(

Yeah, I was wondering about that too!  We had a huge discussion on left/right a while back.

I always take left & right as Haynes does ie as if you're sat in the car.
Less confusing is DRIVER'S side & PASSENGER'S side

I very nearly added something to that effect  ;)
Less confusing is DRIVER'S side & PASSENGER'S side for those of who drive our Vauxhalls (or Opels in Ireland) on the correct side of the road ie the LEFT

The sides of the car are when seen from the rear. i.e. car pointing away from you. :o
