Hello my name is Dean and i am new to the forum, I have just purchased a 1998 Omega Elite 2.5V6 in Gold. I absolutely love it but there are a couple of issues i need help with.
The car is fitted with HID's however someone has changed the light switch box and now it has the manual levelling switch (it does not work however). I am aware that it should have an auto levelling system, but when i turn the dipped beams on, i get the initial blue(ish light) but no auto levelling takes place and it looks as if the drivers side is very low....
Also the drivers side light unit has condensation inside it...
So my questions to the wise ones are.
1)why would the auto levelling not be working?
2)how do i adjust them manually?
3)is it possible to open the headlight unit and clean out the water and condensation.
4)The hids give of an initial blue ish light but then seem to fade to white, is this normal, I thought they should stay blueish?
Hope you can help
Thanks
Dean

I'm no expert but here goes :-
1). Different switches will probably have different wiring. Has anyone got access to wiring diagrams and can check?
Failing that it could be ballast packs, motors, or level sensors? If you can swap with a known working switch to check.
2). Not sure if you can, but be careful around the back of the headlight unit, there's a lot of current, and each bulb costs around £130.
3). Probably but again be careful. You would really ned to figure out how the moisture is getting in, and stop that at the same time.
4). Yes. This is perfectly normal ....... well mine do the same.
And finally. I presume you have a mini-facelift.
If you park a couple of meters away from a wall or something similar, and turn on your lights. Do you not see the lights come on, level down slightly then and then back to level. If so then they are working correctly.

Most probably your sensors are shot. Someone on here should be able to help you diagnose this, it is fairly common.
2)how do i adjust them manually?
There is a hex adjuster just inside the cap, careful it is very sensitive. I have head it is best to adjust by approaching a wall close up, there are other posts on here which would be able to help you do this but best bet is to take it to a garage which has the headlight tester.
3)is it possible to open the headlight unit and clean out the water and condensation.
This is fairly straight forward, remove headlight, unclip the plastic lens, clean out. I would make sure you polish the reflectors, inside the plastic lens and make sure you renew the seal or use a suitable sealant as this is the most likely cause for the condensation in the first place.
4)The hids give of an initial blue ish light but then seem to fade to white, is this normal, I thought they should stay blueish?
This depends on the colour temp they are supposed to be. How long does it take to change colour? I think the bulbs are shot. HID bulbs only last a few years and then they have to be renewed, check on ebay they usually have them on there.
Hope you can help
Thanks

Dude! You would be better off updating your profile, to give your rough location and year and spec of your barge.
It's easier for people to judge if they can offer you help or not.
As you will see from my profile, it will be a wee bit difficult for me to offer help. ;D
Good luck with it!

Rather than manually adjust, fix the problem. If its just one that low, its will be the servo that side. If both low, it will be one of the sensors...
-
OK, took out the headlight with the condensation which is also the one thats low...
When i took off the electrical connector to the servo water poured from it... (that will be why there is not levelling!) I looked inside the servo and it was blown and rusty, must have been like that for some time.
Cleaned all the condensation out, cleaned the projector, removed the annoying yellow colout side light! (sidelights are stupid who needs them).
Sealed it back up and put it all back...
Just need to get a replacement servo..any idea how much these are?
Thanks
