Title: Test driving Lager
Post by: Martin_1962 on 09 September 2006, 21:34:15
I tend to drink Fosters because it is OK and is cheap plus puts money into important sports rather than ball sports

I also like the occasional Budvar and other decent Czech lagers.

Now I am testing an Italian lager, heard of it due to a survey - called Peroni and basically it is quite nice.

My favourite alcoholic tipple is still cider though!!!!

I do internet surveys for fun and a bit of cash - had £50 in one account last year - just withdrew £20 in vouchers for one tonight - spend them at CDWOW ect, or it is a bank transfer

Boooooo!  ;D

I usually only drink it in that posh italian restraunt? forget its name Luizzis or something.

Seen it in Tesco, but its a bit steep.

So its a 24 tin crate of Carling for me  :)

Light weight is good, 5 pints and thats me finished!!

6ft5 tall and 10 stone gives you an idea why i am a lightweight.

Although at college there was this mad guy on our course, he was about 6 years older than all of us well built stocky guy, and has police record for GBH and all sorts.

Word got out i get tipsey on 2 pints.... he marched straight up to me in the common room. I gullped a load of air in and stood back.... he just shook my hand, and said seriously i would love to be you. You get the same feeling from £5, which takes me £20  ;D

Carling Premier is by far the best just a real bugger to get hold of.

A pint of Stella in Oostende is a good move, tastes so much better over there, but i will NEVER drink Leffe awful drink its no wonder they only sell it by the 1/4 ltr, nearly as bad as Hoegaarden!!

If I'm lagering, I usually aim for Stella, but I'm partial to a Tennents or two.

However, if I'm treating myself I buy six bottles of Innis & Gunn!! You should all try it it's wonderful!!!

Mate asked, drink? I replyed Stella.... I don't remember him giving it to me, but I was drinking a pint and thought, ummm tastes odd. Looked at the glass and turned out to be Guiness!!! Hummm tasted it and was nice!!!

Tryed it again a few days later when i was sober, I was almost sick!  :o ;D

I find Peroni bloody awful....its the worst of the Italian beers, my Italian collegues call it 'builders Beer'.

Now Budvar at 67p a pint in Prague.....that was nice.

67p so much cheaper than here!

And you never find it draught - just bottled or canned.

Normally consume draught Carlsberg lager in my local although my favourite is Carlsberg Export - trouble is it blows your head off too quick if you're out for a sesh ::) Kronenberg 1664's good too.

I also like a drop of real ale when the mood takes me, especially Greene King's Abbott - as with Export, too much of this stuff sends you to cloud cuckoo land.

Also got into bottles of Magners or Bulmers cider with ice this summer - very refreshing.

Perhaps I jusht jdrink too mush [smiley=beer.gif] ;D

Normally Bass for me - straight from the barrel, however the Co-op do their own brand Belgian lager at around £4 for a 4 pack and tastes surprisingly like Stella. Slightly better than the Asda version at £3 for 4

Mmmmmm Belgian Beer....

Quite funny to see "ill informed" UK tourists having a quiet tipple by the roadside in a sweet little Belgian bar....

They ( like me first time) neck the beer like its UK strength high street stuff then slump in there chair not realising some of its 13-14%  ;D ;D ;D

Since over indulgance as a student limits me to one pint now, you can’t do better than a pint of Old Pec…              spelling not my strong point.  ;D

Just remembered an old favourite tipple; Tennents Extra, first had it at the Bass brewery in Burton before it went on general sale, but then they dropped the alcohol content (something to do with export tax iirc) & it was never the same after that  :(
