Title: Ghost in the machine!
Post by: jconn on 15 March 2007, 17:20:07
It appears my meega sun roof is taking on a life of its own :o. Symptoms started with an occasional whirr from the motor. Now it has taken it on itself to start tilting the roof. Only happens when driving (i.e. when ignition on) and only occasionally. Spooky! Anyone come across this and has any suggestions?

Cheers, Jeff.

Yes I've had something similar - intermittant and not for a while.

No idea really what the problem is.

I had the same problem, I found that re-setting it worked for me.

Sounds like a dodgy selector switch to me.  ::)

Resetting probably would appear to make a difference because you'd be holding the selector in to program the roof, perhaps freeing off those sticky/dirty contacts whilst doing so.

with the ignition on:

turn control to fully open (slide mode) and hold in until the roof retracts fully
turn control to closed position, hold in until it fully closes
turn control to fully open (tilt mode) and hold in until the roof opens fully
turn control to closed position, hold in until it fully closes

I just push the button in for a few seconds and it works for me.

I believe the full open & close procedure then also teaches the controller when to stop tilting or sliding as well as what the closed position is ... ??
