Title says it all
Shot to sh*t, will hardly drive.
Gutted.
Not even going to bother fixing it.

Sorry to hear it James, thats not good at all - has it anything to do with the transmission fluid change?

thats a bugger m8, sorry to hear that!
Was it gradual or did it just go completely?
I am surprised its gone really, they tend to be tough boxes......

I was "slipping" for a couple of days, then it's just like when a clutch can't grip in a manual, it makes a lot of noise and high revs when in any gear, but won't pull the car more than about 30mph :(
-
Sorry to hear that James :(
There is a 2.0 gearbox on Ebay No: 260094908923 £145
Dont know if this is any good? :-/

Thats not good James :(
Had you started the lpg conversion on it yet?

What are your plans James? Few Ideas....
* Fit Replacement Autobox?
* Convert to Manual?
* Break...
Tbh you have had a few cars recently.... is it worth pushing the boat out for a facelift? Plenty of 2.0 / 2.2's out there, the later 4pots are much more refined. LPG it and your away :D

My plans?
They are like this
Something that has more than half and engine (Eg a V6) preferably a 3 litre, and doesn't sound like a tractor.
Something with Climate Control
There are still many sellable bits from my old V6 that could help with contributing.
Manual conversion, forget it, I want auto.
On the plus side, I now have a job that is only 9 miles from home, rather than doing 500 miles a week..... so fuel economy is not such an issue anymore... meaning I could potentially have something mega beastly.
LPG, I would love it, but I'm considering the option of possibly getting a brand new SGI kit for a V6 instead, as Martin says, get it all perfect over the summer.
I will have a think, not committing to anything yet.
Another problem is that I've had so many changes of car, my insurance are getting funny about it :(
And now are the later 4 pots more refined? Aren't they mechanically the same?
-
Bleh, ignore this one, messed up
-
i think there were some mechanical changes the 2.0 around 97... balancing shafts were added.
2.2's are a stroked 2.0.
You can easily change insurance ;)

A 3.2 springs to mind then ;)
Forget LPG'ing it.....you'll never get your money back doing 18 miles a day plus the odd run
-
Is it worth dropping the sump and having a look?
Might just need a retorque and new oil
The kit you have - if you don't use it sell on Ebay as spares or repair.
If you do get a V6 get a Romano setup - better injectors than OMVL

It is paying off on mine saving £80 a month on 12 miles each way, with heavier savings on long runs.
This would pay a kit off in 12 - 18 months, especially if James keeps doing long trips
-
sorry to hear your gearbox has packed up James, hope you get sorted soon. :y

How exactly....gearbox is ok after all?

No mark.. I wasn't clear.. I messed up and somehow added 2 posts when I only wanted one.. hence I changed the text to "ignore this one"...
the 2.0 gearbox is very much buggered :(
-
perhpas it had all that extra fluid in there foira reason?

I look at it like this Martin.....if you buy a thirsty petrol.....maybe 15-20mpg av as appose to a more economical diesel...poss 40mpg av.....do about 40k miles a year......diy it yourself then yes i agree....12 months is possible.
Payback time on mine using the above figures (i payed £1800 to have it converted) is around 18 months.
Im saving about £100/month on fuel in my omega compared to the merc diesel i used to use, doing about 40k a year......so i have to look at it this way

Maybe... but the fluid was def correct when I finished... so it was a gearbox problem, not my doing :(
