Title: Outside Air Temp
Post by: Boiler Man on 19 February 2007, 13:55:28
Hi Guy's

I'm sure this has been covered, but can anyone tell me were the Outside Air Temperature Sensor is on an 03 Facelift CDX, and how to get to it.

According to my display, it's 25 Deg C in Manchester :o.

Now I know we have global warming, but that's not possible in Feb, especially as I past a couple of brass monkeys clunching their crotches on my way home.

Cheers :y in hope.

It was yesterday in Bury wasn't it?  ;)
Assuming they've not moved it between pre & post face lift it's on the passenger side of the car just under the edge of the bumper.

I can't believe it ever reaches 25 C in Bury, even in Mid Summer ;D ;)

Cheers guys I'm not sure if there is a diff between Pre-Facelift and Facelift, but I'll have a look where you suggest.

Thanks :y

Yep, has Climate.

Had a quick look in the place suggested, but couldnt find it, I'll have a closer look later.

Is it in the same place for both Pre and Facelift?

Cheers

Hi Guys

Sorry if I seem a bit thick  :-[

I'm still struggling to find this outside air sensor, it's now 64 Deg C in Manchester  :o and the sensor seems to be effecting the climate when on Auto?

I've looked under the front bumper, but there is a large flat plastic plate in the way, preventing me reaching the bottom edge of the bumper.

Seems to be part of the bumper (body colour)

Do you need to take the bumper off to get to the sensor.

Hope someone can advise. :y

Which car?

Prefacelift, on passenger side, near air injection pump.

Facelift, nearer middle I believe...

Its a Face lift model

a couple of the lads told me it's in the middle.

But I've looked under the front bumper and in the middle, there is a large flat plastic plate in the way, preventing me reaching the bottom edge of the bumper.

or do you get at it from above in the engine bay?

Open the gap and look through the gap between the washer fluid tank and the rad fans.....its clipped into the bottom lip of the bumper with two wires to it....

Thanks for the help guys :y

I still couldnt open up a gap to see from underneath,  :-[ but I felt around from the top, from the engine bay and found it as you said below the washer bottle. right in the centre of the bumper.

Gave it a gentle squeeze, twist and pull. as I couldnt see it, and there it was.

I have now replaced the sensor, about £8 and it works fine. :)

Is it correct that it effects the climate? The faulty one was displaying 64 deg and the climate wouldnt heat set at 28. I had to set it to High to get any heat out of it. :-/

Anyway thanks again :y

The sensor is used by ECC to calculate how much to heat/cool incoming air...  ...so if faulty, ECC doesn't properly work

Thanks for the reply. :y

I suspected it was tied in to the climate and more than just a temperature display.

I take it that the sun sensor would do the same if that went faulty?

How many sensors does the Facelift Climate Control Have?
